Need a 91/92 Firebird body measurement please
I need to know, absolutely precisely, in mm, the distance from the bottom of the door handle to the top edge of the rubber side trim on the door. Measured from a 1991/1992 Firebird that has NEVER been repainted so the trim has never been moved.
I also think I need the exact measurement from the bottom of the door mirror base to the molding too. My car has been lowered and the front is lower than the rear so it's not like the shop can use a level...
I don't trust my body shop to find the peak of the body curve on their own. Plus I know the location of the GTA fender emblem is partially based off this as well.
Thanks!!
Alex

I can measure mine. You mean the strip that is supposed to protect from dings? Not the edge protector that runs down the door edge, right?

I'd help you but my car has been repainted. I am not sure if the door strip was painted over or removed and reinstalled.

Np, I have a few days to get the measurement. It's worth waiting for a car that's known to never have been painted.
I also think I want the exact measurement from the bottom of the door mirror base to the molding too. My car has been lowered and the front is lower than the rear so it's not like the shop can use a level...

I have a JY 92 formula that has never been painted.
The mouldings were just stuck on, kinda close at the factory. it would be better to measure from the bottom of the door f&r
(most originals I have seen are in a lil a bit different location)
I think the measurements are in the service manual too.

Re: Need a 91/92 Firebird body measurement please
The moulding strips are hollow on the back side to make them sit on the body line.
They will just sit on top of the line. If you move them up or down, they won't be flat.
The body line should be aligned from the fenders to door to quarter. If that isn't aligned, you're not going to be able to cover it up with the moldings. If it is aligned, the moulding will follow.

Off my 92
From the center of the mirror base, just past the gasket straight down is 9 7/8 to the top of the molding or 250.825mm
From the center on the door handle itself, bottom of course, 5 13/16 to the top of the molding or 147.6375mm
Would have gotten this sooner but Have been crazy busy
