I have an 83 z28 and I really like the bigger chin spoilers. I heard you have to change the entire front clip to swap over the spoilers. Has anyone swapped without changing the front clip?

They are different. Google some pictures and here is a link to a popular third-gen store with some more info. You can see the chin does not match up with the nose. I have an 1984 Z28 and was curious if it would work myself. Hope this helps.

Yould have to swap bumper covers & other assorted parts.The bolts are verticle on the early models & horizontal on later years.I personally like the look of the older bumper & the vents on the chin, but the sides are too short.So I did a partial swap.

I've had, or will have, all 3 versions of the Camaro chin spoiler, and the 2 styles of nose on my 92. When I got the car, it came with the 82-84 nose and chin spoiler. I eventually picked up an 85-89 style IROC nose and chin spoiler at a local junkyard. I had to change both pieces to make them fit. No problem with the front fenders though, it all lined up. Just this past summer I found a decent 90-92 chin spoiler at a local junkyard, which will eventually go on my camaro once I repair the small cracks in the usual location at the corners. The nose on that car was trashed though. It looks like the chin spoiler will bolt right up to my 85-89 nose, however the mounts on the side of the front fenders is different. The 90-92 chin spoiler has tabs that go into slots on the fenders, instead of the older style bolt plates. Nothing my trusty Dremel can't fix though

Can you explain this partial swap you are talking about? I. Not quite understanding..I'm interested because I have a 83z. thanks

Basically I used the 84 gfx that bolts to the bumper, but the portion that overlaps on the fender is tha later style.Which is longer, since im using the later style gfx on the rest of the car I wanted it to match, but I dint feel like swaping my 84 bumper/gfx.
