Where to buy black/powder coated lock covers

Where can I buy 2 brand new painted or powder coated black exterior door lock cylinder caps/key hole covers?

I bought 2 new NOS ones from Modern Day Muscle but they were NOT black like the picture, instead only a bare metal with a SLIGHTLY black appearance to the metal that was very uneven and looked terrible.

I'm really hoping to find a set powder coated! I need them in the next couple weeks, thanks!!!! I'm doing a show quality stock appearance restoration!

Go to a old GM dealer and get them from their stash. Some of the original coatings just get faded.
You can get the covers and the little doors for the key

Re: Where to buy black/powder coated lock covers

I wish, the 2 GM dealers in Bako aren't very old and have the worst customer service ever. I literally did not join the Corvette club just because they had their meetings at the dealership, it's that bad.

Anyone care to do this for me and I'll pay them a premium!

Question, can you remove the little doors from the lock cylinders and powder coat those, or will that thicken it to the point of not working smoothly somehow? If I can then I may powder coat those and the NOS caps from MDM locally...

They sell them in complete kits too including the rear hatch. I haven't installed mine but I will be after I do the body work on the donor doors.

Re: Where to buy black/powder coated lock covers

Those are nice but I'm not wanting to re-key any of my locks. I did a search for Lockcraft and Firebird and only found kits with keys...

Then replace them all that use the same key. The doors and ignition are easy.

Re: Where to buy black/powder coated lock covers

Do they have to be new? Bought some 15 yrs ago after the body shop painted over my OE locks.Only part I ever used was the caps/gaskets.Everything else is new.

Re: Where to buy black/powder coated lock covers

If you want to keep them nice install a keyless entry system like they have on any basic alarm system.

After paint I had one installed and have not use the key on the doors for over
6 years now.

Re: Where to buy black/powder coated lock covers

No matter what you do, they will fade over time. powdercoating is thick and may crack and flake off when the tabs are bent...

Re: Where to buy black/powder coated lock covers

I ended up buying brand new door handles and having my existing lock covers powder coated. I "supposed" to get my car from the body shop on Saturday but I seriously doubt it will pass my inspection this first time.
