85 iroc
Hi all
Just picked up an 85 black iroc z28. I live in Sydney Australia so mines RHD.
I would like to repaint it as the original paint is looking a bit sad. Was the original paint water based?
What's the right procedure to repaint over it?
Thanks

Re: 85 iroc
Welcome to TGO. Lots of information in this site. The paint is not water based. Spending many hours of prep work is what makes a great paint job. Attention to detail, and lots and lots of sanding.

I'm not sure, either Lacquer or then to urethane. Some where in the mid to late 80's they switched i think, so i don't know for sure.

According to the Camaro White Book, base/clear paint did not start until the 1986 model year. Your 85 more than likely has lacquer paint if it's original.
