Ignition Switch... Stuck... What Happened?? HELP!!!

O.K... My car has been sitting in my backyard for about 2 weeks now. The doors have not been locked. The time I had the door off I had a big tarp over the car to keep water from coming in if it rained. Well, last nite I drove my car to soccer practice. I noticed the ignition switch was a little hard to turn. I finally did and I cranked it up and after practice it took about 30 seconds to get my key out. It feels like it doesn't want to even move at all. Like syrup was poured in it or somethin it's like sticking. I have to REALLY turn the switch back to try and get the key out. This is worrying me. Could someone have got into my car while it was in the backyard and tried to steal it and messed the switch up? Or maybe it just got a little moist from having no door on it. Does anyone have any ideas?!?

Chances are the lock cylinder is fragged *highly technical terminology for hosed*
Take a look at your key. GM keys wear badly and dont work as well as they once did with age. Also you can try powdered graphite to lubricate the lock. You could also check to make sure your shifter is fully in park, otherwise it won't let you put the key to lock. Last you can brave the inside of the steering column and check it out first hand.
