I have blackouts on my firebird. They are illegal but I don't really care.. You can still see the lights when they are on, just not when they are off..
When I got my C&I for spinning tires, the cop took the blackouts off and tossed them in my back seat on the way to my car. He said they were illegal.. I put them on later that night..
Also, You can have neons in your car as long as they arn't visible from the outside (you can put a black light under the dash, but you have to put electrical tape over the beam if it's visible..
Neon License plate frames are illegal, however the LIGHTED ones arn't. The lighted ones LOOK like neon but they arn't nearly as bright.
I have several friends who have been given tickets for having neons visible so I consider myself kind of an expert. Thats the laws in missouri at least..
Oh and the reason the cop said, that blackouts are illegal is because you can't see the reflectors and if you come up over a hill you could run into a parked car with blackouts..

I commend you for having big plans for your car, but you really need to do a little R&D before you start putting cheap switches all over the place... You are trying to start at the end of the project first...
PS: If you lock your front brakes trying to do a 180 you are going to die. There is already a special switch in your car for doing 180's... it's called the parking brake.

All things aside, un4givin, I strongly suggest you not go through with some of your proposed mods (if you haven't already).
There are better ways to do the things you're trying to accomplish. You're just adding another factor that could possibly fail, possibly endangering yourself and others.
Instead of rigging a switch to turn off the "speed limiter", you could get/burn a new chip that has that function disabled. You're already spending money anyway, right?
Doing a 180 at more than 15 or 20 miles an hour is pretty dangerous. So under those speeds, it's pretty easy to do with with your parking brake if you give it some oomph. If/when you get a posi, with a little practice, you can do a rolling brakestand to flip the car around in a tight spot. None of those maneuvers, however, are even remotely necessary in daily driving, and only minimally useful in "emergency" driving. The "Rockford" is the most useful maneuver, and is easily learned even in a non-posi car.
Also, you seem to like toys and doo-dads in the car, but what makes you think no-one else does? Passengers are very rarely as careful in your car as you are, and it's a good possibility that they can accidentally flip switches, or even on-purpose ("What's this *click* do?"). I don't know about you, but personally, passengers are in the car to ride, and drivers are to drive. That's why I don't like anything that has to do anything with the function of the car in reach of the passenger. I don't even let 'em touch the radio. I don't even like them being able to see my gauges. I get a bit annoyed if my passenger looks over at my speedometer (maybe someday I'll replace the piece of plexiglass over the gauges with a polarized piece so that only I can see them...).
Another thing: If you ever got into a wreck, and somehow, someway, the other party found out about your "trick-braking system", you'd get your behind torn up in court. Not worth the risk in my opinion. Hopefully, I come across a bit more civilized than "some" people. Absolutely no malice in my post, just someone who doesn't want to see anyone do something against better judgement. Take it easy.

This is JUST my opinion but those switches are very unesthetic :/

Maybe I'm one of the few Smurfbackers here...? I mean, there is so much double-talk here I don't know where to begin! "The two red toggles in the lower hand coner are for my 180degree trick braking and the speed limiter. The other switches control things like my strobes and under body neons, other switches will be added later for cooling fan, nitrous, etc." Why wouldn't that read "Those two red toggles WILL be for..."? And people asked "Do you actually do that?" I don't recall you saying no... dammit, just post up some sort of proof already...! Everyone here has got into a debate on the legality issues of certain things, while I've sat here saying "Why the $^&* can't people see THROUGH this..?!" Smurf, I feel your pain...other guy, I like your website design, but it could use a few toggle switches and a 70 shot 'o' ImagiNOS.

Just curious Jza, how come you don't want people to see your gauges?

Un4givin89: Neons cool. Strobes ok. Brake thing Bad Idea. Who cares whats illigal. There are lots of thins that are legal but everybody does them. In NJ did you know that there is a law that says that every time you pass someone on a highway you are suposed to honk your horn but nobody ever does. Just have fun and look out for the law (PBA cards are good too). Do some thing good with one of those switches. Get a pair of 55 watt reverse lights and rig the switch to turn them on. Label it anit-tailgate switch. Trust me it works. P.S. 180 degree u-turns are also illigal but you don't see that stopping me. SMRUFMOBILE: And the guy was asking for opinions not people to to lose there cool and snap on him. ALSO, DUDE your name is "smrufmobile" COME ON! Who are you to rag on people.

OMG I just feel over laughing so hard. I just thought of Something. You should label all the switches N, you know N= NOS N=No Brakes N=Neon that way when you want to do your 180* trick braking I would pay the cost of admission to watch you figure out which switch to flip to see the car doing donuts spinning around with the Neon Going with the Nitrous kicked in and then flipping the N for No Brakes switch!!!! Can you talk about Suicidal...
LMFAO That would be too damn funny to see. Aside from watching him spin around in circles with the neon going underneath the car. Look everybody I can spin and I have NOS and I have No Brakes. WTF, Dude your crazy please don't come through my city with your " Kit " Car.
But hey that's just my .02, I'll stop laughing sometime after Christmas.

Better hinge that t-top on the passenger side. They aren't worth losing one over :sillylol: You also don't want them going through the glass. Too much blood on the upholstery.
