upper door bushings
so I went to advanced auto today and they keep trying to tell me that the upper door bushing kit is a pin and not the bolt in kind. Anyone happen to know the correct part number for them?

Re: upper door bushings
Might as well change the bottom hinge pin and bushings while your at it. A door spring compressing tool will make your life better.

Yes the compressor tool is well worth it -either that or a face shield .. LOL.
I got lucky w/mine vise duckbills, a screw driver and some luck- popped in without incident. If I do it again I will buy one.

Re: upper door bushings
If the upper bushing is worn then so is the lower hinge bushing. You can buy a set of hinge pins and bushings at just about any autoparts store for around $10 - $12. I don't remember if those hinge pins have a circlip or not. If they do then first remove the circlip. Actually what you need to do to start with is if the door has power windows/locks/speaker etc then you need to remove the door interior trim panel. Disconnect all the plugs ins in the door wiring harness and pull the wiring harness through the hole in the front of the door between the hinges. Next get your floor jack and put a piece of wood (2x4 a foot or two long) between the jack and the bottom edge of the door about in the middle of the lower part of the door edge. Using the jack take the weight off of the door hinges. Knock the hinge pins out with a hammer and a punch (I use my air chisel ). Slide the door back and away from the car. remove the 4 bad bushings and replace them with new busings. Slide the door back in place and hammer in the new hinge pins. Remove the jack and replace the wiring harness then door interior trim panel. At that point you should be done (but probably not). The odds are that the door is still going to sag a little bit so that it bumps against the door striker pin. When you get to that point come back and we'll go from there. It is possible to change the hinge pins and bushings one at a time without totally rmeoving the door but its a pain in the butt and quicker to take the whole door off.

You will do OK, I found this job was a good reason for me to buy a Dremel with cut off wheels to get the old hinge apart.
