RED,
i have one, and i am pretty pleased, not too hard to install even for the avg person, you do have to make mod's to your console, but looks great, shifts great with a trans kit, which i would recomend too. Lots of guys here have it, but i hear mostly good comments about it !

you can buy a counsol version that requires you to cut out the stock shifter plate and do some trimming on a metal peice inside the counsel.

I like it; took me an afternoon by myself to install and adjust it. Not to bad of an install.

i just installed my megashifter this morning and it's sweet!
only thing is getting it out of park is kinda hard... you really have to press on the release lever...
other than that little thing it's sweet.
the only tip I have to you if installing it is to route the shifter cable properly as they say in the instructions... which means loop it around the top of the transmission (you'll know what i mean when you look at the instructions) ...

good luck

Sometimes it is hard to get the damn thing out of park, especially on a hill, but only at first, after a few months of use they tend to loosen up. Cutting the console isint really all that tuff; hell they give you a template to use, you just have to take your time when installing, and definatly loop the cable, do it right and you wont have problems with your car rolling down the street when you get out

I've got one also, and it's a great shifter. All of the shifts are very positive, and you don't have to worry about shifting through a gear because it uses a ratchet mechanism. I would recommend getting the three-foot cable, however, as it really loosed up the shifting for me compared to the included five-footer.

for me i would say the hardest thing was wiring up the neutral safety switch; going to radio shack paying $10 for something they should have included was disappointing.

I found the hardest part was figuring out a way to leave the stock harness in place in case i didn't like the shifter; so the install ran me about a full day. if i would have followed the directions and cut up my harness, then i would say around 3-4 hours at most no prob.

The worst thing is the stiffness at first, i thought i either did something wrong or it was broken; it took me a few days to get use to it and a couple of months for it to loosen itself up.

now that everything is done, i'm very happy with it; it makes shifting much nicer (no more skip shifts) and it adds that extra race feel to the car. always get compliments.

also, i don't get as many people asking to drive it because they can't get it out of park.

Do a search on the transmission board. You'll find a bunch of posts on it. There are a LOT of us that hate them. They're cheaply made crap. To prevent your whole console from lifting up, you've got to cut away a chunk of the shifter linkage. Since this is an application-specific model, there should be no need. Wiring up the relays is a pain in the *** , the handle will not stay tight, and the threads under the handle strip very easily. My cable also was split when it was brand new, and has since split in 2 or 3 other places (less than 5,000 miles usage). The hurst dual gate shifter is only a few dollars more and is much higher quality, and they don't require that you hack your stock console, plus the hurst works with the factory cable so you don't have to screw with installing B&M's useless cable & special bracketry.

I don't know why all of you smart car guys have problems with the shifter. I don't know crap and I got everything to work beautiful. The install was a bit fussy at times but mine went in and looks great. I got about half way though the install and I thought what have I done to my poor car but it works tops. I adjusted it on the first try and everything works perfect.

It loosened up nicely and now nodody can figure out how it works. The best part is, you pull the small T handle up and rip the shifter back and it drops into D

I always wanted a standard but this is the next best thing. It made driving my car much more fun. Find a nice twisty country road and start rowing though the gears and you will love it!

yes, mine is the B&M and I've had it in there for about 8 months. I bought and installed the double poll double throw relay and wired it just like the instructions said to. The purpose of having the relay is to protect the electical components that it is wired to. Example: neutral safety switch, reverse light switch, etc. etc... It was a pain in the butt to wire it in though since the connecting pins on the relay are so small and fragile. Just use the small female connectors and be really careful and all should go well like mine did.

8 months and you havent had any problems with it?
Yeah I want to go with that last one I put a pic up on but thire web sight says it will no fit on a 82-92 formula it that because of the console or the trans? The console should be a problem like you guys said but the trans might.

>what kind or model do you have that fits?

Had the same shifter in my IROC. Easy to install, and to wire up. After about the third time the threads stripped and there was nothing left to die threads out of, I got pissed and jerked the P.O.S. out and flung it just as far as I could into the woods behind my house. Lucky for me I didn't ever take the time to hack up my console. I was waiting to find a used one to use instead. Never found one, but anyways..... The point is, the Factory shifter works Perfect, did before, does now.

What a waste of $150.

I put one in my car back in June and haven't had any problems with it. But I know two guys personally who have had problems with it either not shifting out of park or the park/neutral switch and reverse lights giving them grief. The additional relay has something to do with the torque converter locking and unlocking. I called B&M personally to ask them about this. I never wired up the extra relay, so ever since I put the shifter in, the engine will stumble for a second or two after the initial startup if the engine is cold. This problem started immediately after I installed the shifter, and later when I put that engine in a different f-body (w/ stock shifter) I haven't had a problem.
Also you ought to consider exactly how that shifter feels in the palm of your hand after it's been baking in the hot July sun. Might want to consider those t-top covers afterall. LOL.

I have one. I don't have any problems past what has already been mentioned, and think the shifter itself is definitely better than the stock shifter. Meanwhile, the cable and lever mechanics and the electronic aspects all leave something to be desired. I like the shifter, but I wouldn't buy it again if I had it to do over.

Installed mine about 8 months ago. Took 3hrs. I love it, no complaints what so ever. I didn't use the neutral relay and even used the stock cable, didn't use the one they sent me. Didn't require getting under the car. 2 tips: 1. don't use armoral on the boot it will destroy it, 2. use locktite on the handle so it won't strip.
