paint troubles
ok, i know my car was repainted at some point because there is a chip on the spoiler, and there is another paint under it ... if you will take a look at my pics, you will see that when i got it, it was oxidizing to a pink color, then i did some work with it and got it back to red ... i have no clue where or when it was repainted, or what paint was used, but after i waxed it it looked ok (not new, but much better) for about a week, then the pink started to come back ... so i got some color back (i think it was called) and did the car over again ... about a week later the same thing ... could this be from a 2 stage paint that never got the 2nd stage (clear coat) or maybe just not automotive paint at all ... and is there anyone close to 61938 (mattoon il.) that has a place and would be willing to help me paint it again? i dont have much money, and i will help do all the prep work sanding taping anything ... i just can not do it where i live, and don't have the funds to take it to the body shop please

Re: paint troubles
you dont have to offer to help paint it just to give me some input on what the paint problem could be, and if there is a way to stop it from turning pink so fast ... a little info from some of the paint guys would be nice

Re: paint troubles
When you wax it, do you get red/pink residue on your rag? If so, the paint is most likely single stage acrylic enamel. Since it is oxidizing so quickly, I'd guess that is the case and that it is some cheap stuff...think MAACO, etc.

Re: paint troubles
yes, it is taking oxidized paint of with the wax, but i have never seen a paint oxidise as fast as this one ... any thoughts on how to slow down the process ... i was going to try some rattle can clear, but if it turns pink under that, ill have to sand down the clear to get to it
