Headliner on '91 bird
Hi,
I just had the headliner redone on my bird at a shop in town. When I picked up the car I noticed that the front of the liner by the front window didn't seem like it was being held by anything, is this the way it's designed? or did they not put the liner up right? I don't remember the old liner being that lose around there.

Well This gets even better, now that I have the car home and took a good look at it, it seems that the place that put the headliner in screwed up and covered my sail panels with the foam backed material that should have been used to cover the old sun visors.

Sounds like i would be making a trip back to the shop I have a T-top equipped car,i know that when i was removing my headliner,i noticed that there were two plastic clips that helped the headliner stay attached to the area around the top of the windshield.Make sure they are in place. As far as the sail panels,i would think that the material that they used would muffle your sound.Just my opinion..Hope this helps

Yeah, I just talked to the guy's at year one and they said that the material they put on the sail panels was for the visors. These clips are they towards the middle of the windshield?

Well,on my T-top headliner the clips are located at about the end of the visors when they are in there original position.I guess 6-8 inches from the middle of your rear view mirror, left and right. These clips help support the long span in between the mounts on your visors. They are important to have so that this particular area of the headliner does not sag.

I also have a 91 bird. Mine has three clips. I do not know if his has only two because they are t tops or what. My clips are like he said about at the end of the visors and i have one right in the middle of the car also.

Yeah, The guy at the shop swears that there are no clips that the sun visor is what holds the headliner up, and a guy at Year One told me the same thing. I didn't think it looked right. Thanks.

No clips i bet, that shop guy probably broke them and did not want to tell you about it,plus the gap in between the visor mounts is much to large not to have some sort of "help" its like 3' between the mounts and as far as the Year One dude telling you that they do not have clips....hmmmmmmm....sounds like he needs some 3rd. gen. schooling

I've owned the car from almost new I got her with 26,000 on her. I might not put up headliners for a living but I know when something doesn't look right.
