Shaved doors Dead Battery?
Just wondering, I know no door handels button pops open doors, What happens if your battery dies? Do they hold a charge to open if this happens?

I have shaved door handles on my 67 riv, but I can pop the hood without getting inside the car.
If I were to put shaved door handles on my bird, there would have to be some wires that i could hook up to to give my car a little jump. to open the doors.
Keep in mind, you probably will not shave the hatch lock, open the hatch, crawl in through the rear and open the hood.

I was talking to a guy that installed the switch under his car, he would tap it with his foot to open the doors. One day he was going down the road, and "pop" one of his doors opens slightly. Apparently a rock hit it and it poped open his door.
Luckily he did not have suicide doors...
Another button place you could try is either a) in a remote (quite common) or
b) some custom guys put them behind a part of the fender or the "B" pillar so all you do is push on it, and the door opens.

Another option is to get a little 12v battery, like a little motorcycle battery and isolate it from the rest of the electrical system and hide a switch somewhere underneath the car that runs straight to the release solenoid or whatever you chose to use.
Basically, then the battery dies you still have the little battery, so you just hit that button on the door opens and you are okay.

What I would do is install external battery jumper (they only cost like $5) an put them under the front nose of your car, not noticeable to the naked eye, but easily accessible to get jumper cables on them, so th]at way you will never have to climb through the trunk.
just my $0.02

Why not just put a small manual release on the inside of the rear fender. That's what I would do, then you don't even have to worry about losing power.....

Wouldn't the door release have to be on the door? If there were cables or rods going from the door to the frame or what not, the door wouldn't open. The switch behind a panel is awsome though. I would be afraid of messing up the paint though... but a cool idea non the less.
