How much do used Trans Am Recaro seats go for?

I went to the local salvage yard today and I found a Trans Am with the Recaro seats in it. It has white leather seats, steering wheel, and emergency brake handle. The seats are well used(in other words, cracked like leather almost always does) but they have no tears and no stains that I saw.

I was half tempted to snag them for myself but my interior is black and I don't have the money to get them redone in black.

Anyone have any clue what they go for? I can get the front and back seats.

Update: It's an 84 15th Anniversary Trans Am that the seats are in.

White seats look great in a black interior!

It greatly depends on the junk yard. I have a buddy that if i found them in his salvage yard I would pay like $10 - 20 for the pair. Most salgage yards seem to be more interested in Engine & body parts that are metal, because they last longer. Interior pieces seem to rot quickly once they have been in the weather for for a little time.

I would personally not go any more than $50 for the pair. Get the back seat too to match your front seats.

If you really want a neat idea, you can cheeply make your interior look a different color. Luckily you have black so it will work great with what other color you install.

I assume the seats are a the brown color. If this is the case, go to an upholstery shop and get about a half yard of material the same color as the seats for your door panels and put it into the inserts above your armrest. it will bring everything together well. I think it would look nice.

I wanted to know how much they sold for on Ebay or something of the sort. I'm not wanting to keep them for myself. I was planning on turning around and selling them once I got them. I just wanted to know how much they sell for.

If they are in good (usable) shape you can probably get 200-300 for them. I know of at least one person here on thirdgen who is looking for a set. Please save those seats or as much of that car as you can. Their are lots of 15ths out there that need those seats and trim pieces.

I'll try and get as much of the interior as possible. I know that the steering wheel, shifter, seats, and emergency handle are needed. Is there anything else?

I think the only other 15th related item in the interior is the Map pocket (the original is white, it should match the wheel and handles).

Where is the junkyard located?

Only 1500 15ths were made so only about 3000 of those seats were made. They were unique to the 15th (because they were white and say TransAm all over them).

If you wouldnt mind/ remember could you copy the VIN for me ? Thanks.

If the white wheels are nice (and there) you may want to grab them (if $ allows of course)

Good luck w/ the search.

TAdan,

The junkyard is in Indiana. It looks to be a true 15th anniversary T/A. I can get the VIN # if you like but it'll have to wait until tomorrow. The wheels are painted black, they aren't white anymore.

If any of you guys know of someone who is looking for the interior and has the $ to pay for it right now or within a week or so, I can pick it up. However, if they're not a guaranteed buyer I'm not going to do it. The reason I say this is because I only have $240 to last me the rest of the month and I still have my insurance due.

I can still get the interior but I NEED to know if someone out there wants it and can afford it. I'm not sure on the price I want for it yet but it will be very reasonable. I just need to see how much the junkyard wants for it.

The seats DO need reupholstered but it doesn't like they're torn up beyond the outside of the seat. Sorry I said they weren't torn but I went back today and I had a little bit better light to see. It looks like the rear seats need cleaned up because there's some black crap on them. I can get digital pics of the buyer wants them

If there is anyone that wants the interior my e-mail is potato_50@yahoo.com
