You won't want my Insurance company (Allstate). Simce they discourage young drivers from getting these cars. I wonder why? Besides, my rate is for a 43 year old, no tickets, living in So Cal. Won't be of much use to you. You are better off contacting several other insurance companies to get your own quote, based on your age, driving record and where you live. You can always do what I did. Get an RS, then hop up the engine later as you can afford it. Then you'll still be paying the lower rate based on the lower powered TBI V8 (don't get the V6). When I first insured mine I discovered a Iroc or Z28 'vert cost 1-1/2 times more to insure than my RS. That sealed the deal for getting the RS over the Iroc or Z28 for me. Good luck, Lon.

See if you can put your mom or dad down for principal driver and you down for like your dads older f150. You will still be covered if you drive the camaro since everyone in the family is covered.
This is what I had to do with mine and believe it or not, the insurance agent suggested this. This way, I pay like 88 a month for full coverage.

I'm with State Farm, and I'm a 19. My insurance is 625 for 6 months. I've had 1 ticket and two accidents in the last year and a half, but I can't find a better rate. You would definitely be better off having your parents listed as the primary drivers, assuming you don't mind having the car in their name.

That's probably about right for you and your age. Although, when I was in an accident with my Formula ($7000 in damage) my insurance did not go up. I was 50% at fault (BS) but no ticket. Not to mention I was never a saint when driving (had 12 points at one time ). I'm still paying about 4something for 6 months full coverage through AIG. Allstate was my old carrier. I'm paying AIG for full coverage on three cars what I did Allstate for two. ('00 Aztec, '97 Cavalier, and my '89 Formula).

Damn I am 23 and I have a top rated record and I still pay $1300 a year for everything but Collision. If you don't have collision, it doens't matter what you really drive. The insurance is the same on my honda as it is on my Camaro.

Car: 87 Formula T-Top, 87 Formula HT
Engine: 5.1L TPI, 5.0L TPI
Transmission: 700R4, M5

First thing, the difference between a Z28 & an RS is nothing on the title. The difference would come in if you have the 5.0 or 5.7 TPI on the car. This is noted by the 8th didget on your title. Since the Insurance comapny looks at the title to figure out what engine you have on the car, and to my knowledge all camaros are denoted all as "P" for the 5th didget.
A typical 1992 hardtop/T-top Camaro VIN: 1G1FP23??NL?????? (from f-body.org)
Unlike the Trans-AM & GTA which actually have a different VIN, because GM pays "Trans AM" $5 for each of these cars made to use the name that is a different story.
The title of the car sould not say "Z28" or anything else identifying this from any other camaro.
What you have to be concerned with is the 8th didget. (8=350 TPI) (F=305 TPI) (E=305 TBI) (T=191 V6).
My point: if you get an RS or Z28 with the "E" Engine then it should be the same cost for insurance either way. But as soon as you go up to the F or 8 engine you will be paying more for the Z28 because these engines were not offered in the RS and have more horsepower.
Let me give you an example of the difference between an (5.0 V8 LG4 4bbl "H" engine) & one step up to the (5.0 V8 LB9 TPI "F" engine). For my "Comp" $100 deductable I pay only $108 a year for the (4bbl) for the same exact car but with the TPI 5.0 it goes up to $144.
Take the same car, but make it a 1991 that I used to own. The HP rating is the same for the LG4 4bbl & the LO3 was essentially the same. The engine was the "E" 305 TBI, and my comp went up to $199. So to include all things considered, the newer the car, and the higher the HP in the engines all make a difference in how much you are doing to be charged for insurance.

A good rule of thum for figuring whether or not you want full coverage is calculate the difference between Full & only Comp, take the difference and figure what full would cost for 3 years. If it is greater than the value of the car, forget it.
OR you can do what I did, get the car as perfect as you can, then get it appraised by a well known appraiser. You need pix, forms filled out stating that your car is worth $xxxxx.xx. My premiums did not go up, but the insurance company is now abliged to pay me $11,000.00 for my car rather than $1,500.00. I need to have it re-appraised for my new brakes & interior.
If you get a well known appraiser his reputation will help you in a court case to get what you deserve out mf your car.
You can also keep all of your recipts from oil changes to major repair work. Argue that this is what you have invested, they will take a deduction for depreciation of the work by how long ago you had it done, but it all adds up. The more information you have the better shot you have getting more money.
