Heh,, I guess I misunderstood you soul,, (I think), my apologies.
You were meaning put just the 4th gen nose on an 91-92(w/oo the door gfx from the 4th gen)... my bad.
If I can find something I'll try,, if you find some pics that match angle 1st tho post & I'll work w/it as best i can (which really isn't much) & I'm sure other pic editors would try too.

GM did this on some test mules. I remember reading artiles that mentioned it in 93 after the first time I seen a 4th gen TA. They had 3rdgen shells that the front clip was affixed to. I remember it mentioning that the front track was wider than the back. If you look at the specs the 4th gen has a wider track fr & rear. That's probably why it was so hard to center it making the pic. If a stock 4th gen piece was to be modified it would also have to be narrowed.

I got several things to say. First, that is truly a bad-*** idea. Makes me wanna go out and buy one right now! I think with the 4thgen ram-air hood, and correct spoiler (no 3 foot tall ones), that would be awsome. As far as modding cars goes, Zepher is the kind of person we need...look at that, ain't it beautiful? It's not a set of ugly GFX, clear tail-light lenses or an ugly wing. It's 3rdgen modernization/modification. Same principle applies to engines. Exact same one.
I agree with people's decisions to install 4thgen parts into thirdgens. Why? I said it once and I'll say it again, 'It's my car, I own it, I paid for it, I can and I want to, that's why.' I'm not making thirdgens look bad like some people(I could understand if I had a folgers fartcan and 12" good wheels on mine if you guys bickered, hehehe), but am modernizing a 3rdgen.
Don't you guys think that would be cool? A modernized 4thgen? Picture this...Get a 3rdgen GTA body that was stripped...put another thirdgen back on the road in the process. Install the nose and hood. Change to WS6 wheels or something similar. Replace the body harness with the 4thgen harness, along with the heater box and dash so the heater controls work. They bolt in for the most part. Install a 4thgen rear to replace the missing one, and you get discs and recessions for ABS and maybe traction control. A thirdgen with traction control. There's a damn advantage. But that would require front wheel speed sensors as well, but I don't think that's a problem, this post proves the thinking power is on this site...it's called customize and fabricate where necessary. Install 3rdgen 1Le brakes, or 4thgen front brakes, I know that's possible because one of my cars is wearing 4thgen front brakes...Install the black T/A leather seats, very supportive with bolsters and lumbar. Console and install the rest of the interior with 3rdgen parts. Drop in an LT1, it bolts in, or customize alittle more, and LS1 is a more powerful alternative. Use a T-56 or a 4L60-E. Keep in mind the LS1 is the most powerful factory small-block Chevy in existence, from the factory. Combine that and you get a car that probably cost less than 5k to build if done right if you locate a complete wrecked T/A or Camaro (?), and consists of things that GM designers could only dream of back when they first released the IROC in '85 and the GTA in '87. Traction control. ABS brakes. More power and reliability, and a wider wheelbase. And it'll accept a variety of bolt-ons from both 3rdgens and 4thgens. Kick *** ? You're damn right! And you actually have room to work on the damn motor! Gawd, imagine that. That kinda car could win a car show...not to mention the savings of insurance if you did it to like an '84ish car...
I think that's kickass, Zepher. Keep up the good work...keep me posted of any further developments, OK? Makes me wanna pull a couple bumper covers outta the wrecking yard and try alittle 'fiberglass magic', lol! And I don't have a T/A (yet)!

Very nice! When I do my dash swap I'll be sure to post pictures too...I still cannot decide between a 4thgen T/A or late Camaro dash...the 3 vents are nifty for gauges, and either way, a Camaro steering wheel with audio controls and theftlock stereo with matching door panels and Camaro gauge cluster will be used. We'll see...

So that was their next project? Haahaa...cool...well, at least we know what to expect...judging from the majority of the posts in this thread, I guess its safe to say alot of people will be interested...including myself. 2-3 months? Thats fine...its definetly worth the wait. Do you know if they are making the side panels/gfx as well, like the ones that Zepher photoshopped in there? And if the lights for the new nose will be included in their package?

Hey man, I like the idea. One guy mentioned something about the lines not flowing right though, and I think he's right. But that doesn't mean it CAN'T work.
Maybe think about this. Take the rounded air intake areas and driving light ports, and square them off a bit. You know, just like rounded rectangles. I think that might blend the two styles nicely. But then again I'm a programmer, not an artist.
Way cool, customize away! If someone else don't like it, well they don't have to buy it.
I'm thinking about doing some mods to my car (when I get it). But they'll be a lot more mild.

Hey,if GT Auto needs a car to test prototype fronts on, I might be willing to lend my 91 Firebird. I'd love to have that 98-up front and ram air hood on my f-bird. Great job on the photoshop guys, I'd like to see some more. I wonder if someone could photoshop 4th gen tail lights onto a 3rd gen f-bird.

Taillights would be very hard, since they are not a rectangular shape. It can be done if you have the money or talent.

That black car looks so awesome! I'm definitely up for that kit. Where can I place my deposit??? I actually have a spare 91 Firebird laying around if any companies (i.e. GTAuto Accessories, etc.) wants a prototype car!

The 4th gen Trans Am nose on the 3rd gen looks OK, but the black IROC with the 4th gen camaro front end looks terrible. I'm usually not one to stay stuff like this, but if you are going to go that far, buy a 4th gen. 4th gens are good for the seats, other interior stuff, rear ends, engines, and a few other things. Yes, they do look nice, but not when they are grafted onto a car that has a totally different look. The 4th gen Camaro is aerodynamic and curvy, while the 3rd gen has much harder lines. They just dont match IMO. By the time you installed this front end kit, you could have sold your car and put a fat downpayment on a LS1 car.

I NOTICE that you mentioned "DOWN PAYMENT" to me it is alot better to spend $2000 on a car and pay $100 each month for repairs. Than to Give a $3000 down payment and pay $400 a month for 5 years. By the time anyone of us were to spend $1200 a year on our cars after 5 years our car would be in better condition than the new one that you just bought 5 years back.
the math:
3000 + (400 x 12mos x 5years) = $27,000
2000 + (100 x 12mos x 5years) = $8,000
If I decide to make it look like a 4th gen, why not I still have $19,000 in the bank to spend on my old used car.
IMO

what i would take off the 4th gen, would be only these things...
1. The newer style T-tops...
2. How the window at the back jags in a little bit instead of a straight line on 3rd gens, gotta love new engineering
3. Maybe rims, but, i would never buy stock rims off another car and put them on mine, i would spend another $500 and get nice looking ones...
4. Other than that, if your gonna do all that to try and make it look like a 4th gen, might as well get one...

I dunno about doing this....
At first I really liked the newer front ends on these cars, but the more I look at them the more I grow to dislike them.
I bought a thirdgen to look like a thirdgen (at least on the outside).
I can see adding the rear higher spoier to the firebirds, because the 91-92's are similiar.... but adding the front end, and all the gfx and such? Whats the point of even having a thirdgen at all? All you are doing is creating a lower quality 4th gen. isnt it?
Why waste the money on the older car? If the look is loved so much, just sell the 3rd gen and buy a 4th!
Now, dont get me wrong..... I can see adding leather seats, and a few of the other interior pieces. Why change the entire look of the car to match a newer one when you can go buy one a lot easier?
As far as the pics go, deadbirds 1st pic is the best one... looks the most like a modified 3rd gen!
But, as always. Your car is your car.
If someone actually does it, post some pics....

In some ways I agree with the sentiment of just buying a fourth gen, but this is an exception. i think this is a great idea. I love the newer firebirds front end, and i would love my formula to look like the black picture above. As anyone can tell you though, go ahead and try to work on a newer f-bod. It's a pita! Plus, parts are cheaper(for a third-gen). It's easier and cheaper to pick up a third-gen, modify the hell out of it, appearance and performance-wise. And you know what? Your insurance will be one hell of a lot cheaper.
Just saw the black camaro above. Ummm...oops heh heh. I meant the black FIREBIRD.
