Guilty as Rice, which gauges should i use...

I bought one of those Autometer A-pilar dual gauge pods. Now I'm not sure which gauges to stick in there. I've got working TACH, OIL, FUEL, VOLTAGE, WATER..... so... any thoughts?

Unless you've got a SC (supercharger) or Turbo or racing competitively,, what's the point ? Every main gauge is covered by the factory gauges.

You should get a real big spoiler, and some Japanese letters on it too. They'll go good with a bunch of useless gauges.

I put the air/fuel guage in mine.. If I went with two guages, I waslooking at the intake temperature.. I think it's good to know how hot the air your car is taking in..

Yeah that would be good then you could get some real data on like a new cold air intake or a better spot for the air cleaner.

future mods:
completely done over suspension, black paint with flames,
T-56 almost ready to go in, TPI swap coming up

Wifes new car:

95Z28, AT, leather, T-tops bone stock for now.

future mods:
header to tailpipe replacement and a cold air intake. Then I am just going to leave it alone

deadbird & Hulk0202, your negative comments aren't welcomed. My car isn't turboed, but I do take it to the track, and I am building it up for the track. But I'm still a novist.

Still no one explained wehat boost and vaccum gauges do.

Ok my understanding is without experience. I think guages are measures of the air pressure within the plenum or area in front of the plenum. Also vaccum would be the opposite the lack of air pressure in those same areas. Just a guess based on physics.

Let's not start that un4given, there was nothing negative about what I said. I merely asked a simple question.

I have AFR and electric fuel pressure gauge in mine. But your choice should depend on what you feel needs to be monitored the most.

Probably fuel pressure and trans temp, I'll just go through some catalogs.

deadbird said nothing negative. He was saying that a boost gauge is useless if you don't have a supercharger or turbo.

As for your gauges, I think an A/F gauge and a F/P gauge would be the most useful. I have an A/F gauge and a mini-tach. I know it's redundant to have two tachs, but I got the mini-tach for it's memory function.

when i put on my tpi setup and s/c i will put fuel pressure and boost in a guage pod......id say put the air/fuel and either trans temp or fuel pressure......a boost guage measures from 5-25 psi(pounds per square inch) of boost you are running....i.e.- a 12 psi supercharger...a boost guage would be used to moniter when you have full boost level and you can use that to determine shift points...etc. im not sure about the vaccum guage though.... i think the more vaccum you have the more air it will suck in at a time....someone correct me if im wrong

2 guages that would be most useful to you now as your car sits are a Tranny temp guage , getting a auto trans too hot is sure way to dramatically shorten its life . If you get that guage I bet you'll never powerbrake your car again Unless you have a adjustable regulator a fuel psi guage is kinda worthless sooooooo , I would put a water temp guage there . Factory guages arent all that accurate....compared guage readings to scan tool readings lately .

Then you will have 2 guages that serve a purpose , so you can tell everyone calling rice to shut the **** up

Thank you Jza. I guess I'd better start sticking to the electronics board where people don't seem to mind straight answers/replys/questions.

So far I've been told to F.U. (animated in a smilie),, called an *** * said I've given a *ickhead reply answering as I've alwasy done before. Simple & as straightforward as I've alwasy tried to do w/o opinion. If you cant take an honest reply, I'm sorry but,, I'm not going to constantly defend myself. I do appreciate the support of the ones who have defended myself & the relpies I've given.

The only person to mention "rice" was un4given in the title of his post. I had no intention of knocking anyone about the gauge pods, there is nothing bad or "rice" (if you feel the need to call it so) about it. I simply stated that unless you were into or had something above factory (ie,, an SC ot turbo) something more than driving around,, what would be the point of adding more than what the factory gave you (presuming you have a full cluster) for gauges? Granted I'm somewhat paranoid of what's going on with the car (which is why I added a gauge cluster to my camaro) but, abouve the factory gauges for just crusing around/daily driver, why add more? Nothing negative,, nothing critical,, relax,, we're all here for the same resaon,, to help each other, learn form one another & share ideas.

Take a clue deadbird, I didn't call you any names or anything, I just thought your comment was smug and it sounded like you were trying to be rude about it. Just the way it came off to me.
