rear wing removal - help
I'm planning some paint work on my Formula this month. Can anyone provide me info on the removal of the rear wing on the '87-'90 Formulas. Mine is rusting inside on the left front clip. Can this clip be replaced?
Please advise.
Thanks!

to take the wing off, open and raise the hatch, if you look at the bottom of the hatch, there are i think 6 bolts, maybe a few more, unbolt them they are the bolts that hold the wing to the hatch. then after those are out, if you have a 3rd brake light, you will have to disconect it, then close the hatch, and push the wing towards the front of the car, there are 3 slide type clips on each side, sliding it forward "unlocks" them and then you can take the wing off. i just did this on my car, i ended up sanding the whole thing down to the rubber with a D/A sander with 150 grit. hope this helps. lil jay

On mine the clips were badly rusted (which was why the spoiler bulged) and I wasn't able to slide the spoiler forward, and when I forced it, I wound up pulling most of the clips out of the spoiler. I didn't care because I was junking the spoiler, but you may want to spray a healthy dose of Liquid Wrench on them and take it easy if you plan on reusing the spoiler.
