Bike Racks ???
hey guys, i'm not exactly new here. I've been reading and visinting this place for quite a while and just now i registered. I have an 1989 iroc and I love bmx bike riding, but in order for me to take my bike with me i have to remove the front wheel of my bike and I also have to take out the rear seat cushions in order for the bike to fit in the back area.
does anyone know where or what company i can buy a bike rack for my car. I'm not so sure about a roof rack because of the T-top...
thanks.

Skin and bones, I've seen a guy around here that has a trailer hitch reciever (the kind you can acually change hitches not the ones with just one size ball)and he bought a setup that slides in like a trailer hitch and holds 2 bikes i believe.
this may be one option and probaly a little expensive but it works for him so i would check and see what a hitch installer would have to say. Good luck!

Most U-Haul dealers can set you up with a trailer hitch. There are two styles from Draw-Tite for our cars. The style with the square shaped receiver will probably have the bike mount accessory. This option is a lot better than trying to hook something up on a temporary basis.

I was under my dads '72 vette one night replacing the fuel lines and when I got the the fuel tank I noticed a big threaded hole in the center of the rear frame.
When dad got home I asked him about it and he said he needed a trailer hitch to haul his harley around with so he drilled a hole through the frame and got a cheepish hitch that bolted to the frame.
It could only support about 700lb or so but that be the cheap easy way to get your BMX around and not spend a good load.
Just dont hook a big trailer or anything to it or youll probably bent or break your frame lol

I don't know where they get them, but there are several 3rd gens and 1 1st gen stang with rear mounted bike racks. They look like they remove easy enough and attach below the bumper. Not sure where. Then, they come over and I'm not sure if they're attached to the hatch or not. At any rate, they rest on it. You might try some bike shops in your area and see if they can order you one or have something that will work.

You can mount a regular 'strap-on' rear carrier to the rear hatch, provided you don't have louvers or one of those big IROC wings. I have a Rhode Gear Super Shuttle ($89, two bikes) that I use for my mountian bike. You have to let the top straps all the way out and hook them to the top edge of the glass. Set the short leg so that it stands on the edge of the rear window, and the long, bent leg sits on the top of the bumper. It will clear most wings, including my Aerowing. I have a pretty light bike (24lbs), so I'm not worried about hooking on to the glass. One or two BMX'rs should be all right as well.
