Dash Conversion
I want to convert my 86 dash to the 91-92 setup--i have all the parts except for the dash itself. I tried today but the tabs are different--anyone have any ideas on what to do? Only thing I can think of is to get the dash itself--other then that tho.
And if I do get the dash--will everything bolt up nice?

pieces should fit, the only problem you might run into is the wires. I do not know if they are the same or not. Might have to do some transplanting.
A good saturday without any distractions should give you ample time to complete the transfer. (IF you are familiar with your dash and how it comes a part)
First time taking apart a dash: 3 to 4 hours, after that 2 hours. Install 2 Hours.
Advise: Remove your drivers seat so you can lay on the floor to take apart all the wire connectors under the dash. & Do not forget your center console wires.

Along with the dash, the whole heater box and heat duct tubing is different. Major, major project.

I have an 87 camaro that I put a 91-92 dash in. You will need the whole dash including duc work. The two dash mounting brackets because the are different too(one for drivers and one for passenger side). The seedometer is electric not cable so you will need a vss and a vss buffer. Plus you will have to move wires on the insturment plugs because the wires are not in the same position on the plugs. if you have any more question just ask.

I tried to put the 91-92 dash bezel on--no dice--would've had to cut it up some--plus there was a gap near the driver side a/c vent.
So I'm going to try to cut a spare 86-89 bezel that I have. Also gonna use the switch panel from the 91-92 setup. I've already wired up those switches to my car--looks good!!! Gotta get a dremel now!!
forgot--some of the tabs are different on the 2 setups.
