Ram Air II install
I just got my ram air 2 hood from GTAuto accesories, and althought it looks bad A.S.S
it doesn't seem to fit just right...
the whole hood lines up with the fenders up until it reaches the front bumper.. so there is a gap between the hood and bumper...
anyone else have any problems like this?
92 Bird
oh yeah, are there any other problems you guys have had when installing this hood and what did you guys do about it?

You'll have to adjust the hood stops in the engine compartment till it fits right...some hood's I've seen still don't meet up all the way because they were pulled outta the mold too quickly...good luck!

You'll probably thank yourself later if you take some "before" pics, whether or not you post them. I often wish I had pics of what my cars looked like when I first came into possession of them.

My ASCD Ram Air hood has the same problem. Right at the front where it meets the bumper cover, there is a good sized gap.

You don't have to post the pictures. Just please email them to me at least. Please?? I've been desperately searching for the last 6 months for a picture of a 91 or 92 firebird with the Ram Air II hood on it, especially one with gfx. I just want to see a general idea. If you can't get pictures it's not a big deal. I'll eventually find some . . . somewhere, lol.

you can see how everything fit, doesnt look to good, you can see the spoiler isnt lined up but that is soley because my old spoiler clips are still on the glass. The hood was insalled in 20 minutes basically so I didnt have to get a truck when I took it to the body shop, rite now its at the body shop with everything alligned rite, all dents fixed and getting a perfect coat of 2001 (or is it 2002) Prowler Orange Paint

I have the same problem with the gap along the driverside fender and the headlight...
i'm trying to figure out how to shift the whole thing over a bit...
but the gap in between the hood and bumper cover is my main concern right now, i think i'mjust going to use some washers along all the upper bolts to lif the bumper a bit...

I've seen those pics before just like I've seen every other car on this site with a Ram Air II hood, just never on a 91 or 92 Firebird. That's why I asked BOG for a picture and not anybody else. Sure all the others look nice but I really really really wanna see one a 91 or 92. Thanx.

the things me and the guy at the body shop did to fix the gaps mainly are
Front Gap: Went away EASILY, just loosen up the bolts between the 2 parking lights, there is a few, then push the bumper cover back a lil bit. goes away rite away.
Side gaps: they were a bitch, he actually had to raise the hood and hold it at diff. levels and push it from the passenger side for some of it, I guess to force the hinges over. But the biggest improvement came from using a dremel with a cutting wheel to cut off part of the bar that latches so it could slide over more, i'll try and draw up a diagram tonight and post it to better explain what I mean.
Soulbounder: they werent meant for you, so shut up just messin with ya. I wanna see pics on a 91-92 also, I was just posting these for Blaze of Glory to show him how mine fit.

I like that yellow one, very nice.
Yes the GTA's were 87-92.
The 91-92's have the ovalish design in the front bumper cover.
As for the hood install, i'm getting one as well and wondering if y'all cover the front holes with vents/screens or what?
Also, is it functioning at all, is there any air going into the engine from those? Thanks!

Wow, even that primered 'bird is looking pretty good. And that yellow bird sure is sweet... and I didn't really like the ram air II hood before. Wow. Anyway, is it just me or is that 4th gen spoiler not quite fitting right? And, has anyone seen a Z28 style spoiler, like the one on the yellow one, fit a TA properly before?? The only other time I've see one of those, it didn't seem to go all the way to the edges like it was supposed to.

well today i tried to tweak my hood to no avail...
the hood at the tip i still a half inch above the bumper...or is it that the bumper is a half inch below the hood.. i'm not sure which one is where it's supposed to be...
i can even get the hood to shift more to the drivers side...
the passanger side fender is almost touching the hood while the drivers side has a 1/4 inch gap...
i have replaced both fenders and bumper covers maybe they are aligned 100%...
all i know is that this is getting frustrating as h-e-l-l

You guys should see what i had to do just to make my Harwood hood close!!! What a POS. The hoods in these pics fit much, much better than my harwood does. I don't have GTAuto's hood, but his 4th gen spoiler fits beautifully on my GTA.
