anybody with an 89 firebird formula
I have a black 89 firebird formula 350 with the standard half hood scoop on it. Behind the hood scoop,(the part you can see through the windshield) is white on my car. Is there supposed to be some kinda screen or cover on it? Is my car missing something in there?
Thanks for your responses!

Should be a solid black block off plate.
I got an 82-83 hood and it had a screen on the bulge-liked it better--car had the cfi setup(donor)--put it on my 89.

Thanks for your help guys! I'll see whats going on with the scoop. Maybe the paint just wore off after a while, because it seems like it was painted black at one time, but i was wondering if there was a screen or something that went over it. Anyway if i wanted to paint it black again, any suggestions on paint that would be good for that? Thanks again!

I found a screen thing in a junkyard and put it behind mine, so I see the screen and the block off plate, looks better than just a black panel. They used the screens from 82-83 & 84's without the "ram-air' option
If you happen to run across a car with the RAM AIR, get the whole assembly it will more than likely be adapted to fit on your Formula IF you have TBI, will NOT work with TPI for obvious reasons.
I RECOMMEND HIGHLY the SEM OEM Black, SEM is the manufacturer of the paint. If you decide to go with a cheeper paint, they NEVER cover as well, bight the bullit and pay the $8 for the can.
I get mine at "Auto Value" stores here in Flint.

Yea...on my '83 TA I have the ram air power bulge hood. I have a screen on mine...it is red though from when it got painted. I suggest the hood and functional ram air to everyone. It was adapted to fit over my carbed 350 4 bolt by the previous owner. My car's exterior was modded and now looks like an '87 TA. The hood looks great with the newer front ends...yuck I hated the original front end on my car.
