What will Limestone dust to to paint?

My new apartment is a few hundred yards from a limestone plant, and my cars get a daily slathering of dust. I've been washing the IROC every couple days, and since the car has a good coat of wax, the stuff seems to wipe right off. My sport coupe has no such good fortune and the stuff sticks to the paint pretty strong. I have no concerns about the paint on the Sport Coupe, but I'm worried about the IROC and my GTA. My friend's car down the road is starting to get spots or stains in the paint, and we suspect it's due to the limestone. Anybody know about this stuff?

just keep it washed off and it should be fine. maybe even do a daily wipe down of your car and invest in a car cover. if you wanna see really bad damage, and you live near a salt plant go take a look at half the cars there. not a lot of rust unless they are run thru water with the salt on em BUT the paint will just fall off. you should see some of our trailers and trucks comming out of morton salt. our oldest trailer #3 is pretty bad and the frame is warping BIG time where the back frame bolts up to the hops

I hope so. My cousin's car down the street is starting to get some spots in the paint.

Jim, I would be concerned especially if it rains. I believe when the sun comes out after a shower it is going to cook that limestone dust right into the clearcoat (water spots). Look at some of the other cars in the area, do they have water spots?

If it were mine I would keep it covered or rent someplace to store them. That would be cheaper than new paint.

Washing the car tonight was not pleasant. The paint feels bumpy.

Most of my neighbor's cars look fine. My cousin's GF's car looks ****ty, but I'm not sure if it's from the limestone or not. Why in the hell didn't I notice this crap before I got the damned place?

Guess I'll be putting a car cover on every single night.
