Steering column play
My steering column has somehow developed about a half inch of play side to side. This is now starting to bug me and I want to get it fixed. Does anyone know what part or parts went "bad" inside there to get play like that? Should I try to find a whole new column or is it just a part in there that needs replacing?
Thanks for any help in advance...

Is this a tilt column??
There is a common problem with tilt columns becoming loose. There are four bolts, all well hidden deep in the column, that work thier way loose. The easy and only fix I know of is to tighten these up and put a little loctite on em while you're at it to avoid having to take the whole thing apart a month or two later.
I believe that there is a tech article written on this that I recently had to follow to accomplish the same task. It's easy to follow and right on the money. You'll need a few special tools but it's always cheaper than paying to have someone else do it.
