Rust Dilemma...

In the past several months (since last winter) my 84 T/A has developed some rust. The lip of the driverside 1/4 panel has developed some surface rust (bubbling of paint). This is the first arear of "major" rust on the car. Ive always stayed on top of the minor problems (underside, engine compt, etc). But this really bothers me because the car looks very good and I am reluctant to sand this area and prime/paint it. I know it has to be done but it is really killing me because I know I will not have the $ to have the car painted any time soon and I know it will only get worse .

Thanks for letting me vent.

Is any one else in my situation? any advice?

My advice is to take care of it now, because it will only get worse and cause more work later on when you want to paint it. Your two choices are grind w/80 grit and prime or remove loose rust and por-15. www.por-15.com

If you choose to remove the rust and not por-15, get a zinc rich primer or go to a welder supply & get some cold galv compound (2nd is in a spray can & imo, better). Duplicolor & Plastikote both make lots of colors, at least one should be close, to touch up the spot for the time being. Duplicolor is laquer which is faster drying, sandable, & can be polished/blended easier.
