T-top conversion on a 91Z

What is all involved in doing a t-top conversion on a 91 Z28. I would like to know what parts i would need, how much they are going to cost me. Also i would like to know how much it would cost total if i had it sent to have done at a body shop.

There are alot of junkyards around me that have nearly 5 t-top thirdgens in each one, totaling around prolly 40 t-top cars. So parts wouldn't be that bad to find, i know i would need new weather stripping.

I hope you have a lot of money. And it'd take a very ballsy shop to do it. If I was gonna do this, i'd probably just cut the whole top off, and weld on a complete new one, with t-tops. I don't see how it could be done successfully if you just cut the holes for the t-tops. Maybe you can find a body shop that'll do it, but I'd start looking around at places to sell your kidneys right now, because it will cost you a lot

Best way is to convert your non-t-top car to someone else's, and convert a t-top car to being yours.

I am only going to buy a car that has t-tops, but i found a 91 Z that is nice. 5.7 all white. But it is a hardtop. Please, there has to be away. I've seen the conversion done to a couple of fourth gens, but never to a 3rd gen. PLEASE HELP.

It's not really that difficult, any competent collision/body shop can do it.Basicly you will need a t-top car to cut the roof off of,then they will cut yours off and weld the new roof on.Let the body shop cut both roofs off, don't just take them the top of another car.A friend of mine had this done a few years ago,it cost him about $1200........

Don't do it. T-top cars are already structurly inferior and all the problems with leaky t's isn't worth it. If you do this why not go all out and make it a convertible.

In the fourth gen conversions they actually cut their original roofs.
I know what you guys are saying about the extra structural integrity, but there would be a set of sub frame connectors going on it and other stuff. Anymore help would be great. Thanks to all that have replyed so far.
