You can you have to go to your local body shop supply company and get a special type of prep cleaner and speacial paint, but other than that there is nothing to it. I personally wouldn't recomment it because the plastic paint does have a tendency to chip very easiley

I have used the vinyl paint to paint both vinyl and hard plastic parts. As long as you clean the surface thoroughly and scuff it up real well with something like cleanser it will do OK. It does chip fairly easily. As far as seat fabric and carpet FORGET IT. The vinyl paint says it works, but it doesn't. I have tried on both seat fabric and carpet and after multiple coats it still isn't right. The vinyl paint is expensive too so it is cheaper to get new seat covers and carpet than to try to change their color.

i painted all of my panels with "plasti-kote" vinyl and plastic paints and it worked really well. i cleaned them with alcohol and scuffed 'em up with some fine grit sand paper. i also found that if you prime the panels first that the paint wont chip

If you use a scuff pad insted of sand paper it will work a bit better. Sand paper won't get into the small groves, and it may flaten the surface. I have been told if you use some commet cleaner it works good with the scuff pad.

I did the same thing you are planning on doing from grey to black.. it held up for about 6 months but now i am slowly replacing all the plastic pieces with black ones as i come across them since the paint is all chipping off.. It was a HUGE PITA and I regret doing it I should have just replaced the f*cking things instead of painting them because i'm replacing them all now anyways.

go to autozone and they make a paint adhesive in a spray can, its right next to the spray paint. i just saw it today. and about the carpet painting, yes they also sell spray paint for stuff like carpet and other fabrics (also at autozone)
