4th console...

Okay, so if anything I'm about to say is incorrect, please correct me. First off, fourth gen consoles are direct bolt-ins (maunal only) to a thirdgen. Okay, so the people who have an automatic... What are we supposed to do? Has anyone managed to play around with something to make it look right? Any pictures? I mean.. the whole automatic shift **** coming out of a boot... sort of looks stupid. (not trying to offend anyone)... anyone have any ideas?

......the 4th gen manuals are direct bolt ins for automatic 3rd gens, it might look weird to you but the 4th gen consoles are a hell of a lot nicer than the third gen consoles.....n/m

Yes, I agree it does look better. But the whole boot thing on an automatic gets to me. Has anyone managed to make a plate or use a plate from something else to make it look as though it's original?

Alright ... we're all fab'ing the plate for the window switches, right? (except for the brave few who go to 4th gen door panels) so, how about fab'ing an indicator plate to mount where the shift boot mounts? Seems you could probably bastardize the shift plate off of the original console and use that as a starting point. Then, you have the indicator piece, and the housing for the light ... Doesn't seem like it would be too bad ... and, don't the stock 3rd gen auto consoles (in Firebird / TA's, anyway) have boots around the auto shifters? Anyway ... I think it's doable.

That's what I was wondering R.C. Righter... I was wondering if anyone had made a shift plate and such and make it work. Seems like someone here could do it.
