Fiberglass fenders

I am thinking of using fiberglass fenders to replace the rusty ones I have on the front of my 88 TA. Anyone done this? What kind of weight savings from the original steel? Do the aftermarket panels have mounting points for the unibody, or are they only for tubular chassis (racing) cars?

Thanks,
Dave

If you've ever picked up a fender for our cars, you'll see that they're about as heavy as a fart. For the little weight you'd save, you'd spend far too much money on the fenders. I'd recomend just getting factory originals, I got mine for a good price through my body shop, and they are exactly the right size and have all the lines in them, most aftermarkets are a beast to line up

I thought about gettting fiberglass ones but decided not to. Your not going to get that much on wieght savings. Also, if you ever get in a front end accident, the metal fenders will give you more protection then fiberglass.
