tricked out doors

Hey, has any boby ever thought about trying to make their doors open like a Lamborghini? I know this is a radical idea and would be very hard. I'm sure it could be done though. Just think how cool that would be.

Oh and no rice comments. A Camaro is not Japanese and a Lambo is also not Japanese.

lots of problems go along with doing this...

First, have you ever tried to get out of a car with those kind of doors? Its not as easy as it looks.

F-Body doors weigh a considerable amount more than lambo doors... you'd need something really strong to hold them up, and I doubt that'd last long.

Do you want a door that heavy to fall on you when you're getting out or do you really want to hit your head on it?

How are you going to get it to clear the fenders?

How easy do you think it'll be to get the doors to shut even with a t-tops car...

I don't think it'd be worth it...
Atleast not to me anyway

He is right the doors are too heavy. Lambo doors are fiberglass so its alot easier, plus the way they are made they can easilly slide open as to where on a camaro they would first have to slide out then up. I thought about doing this for a long time, I think the shocks run about $2000 ea.

Thanks, I'm glad I got some serious repsponses. I could probably have some fiberglass doors made. I don't have power windows so thats a little weight saved. Just thought it would be a neat show car idea.

getting fiberglass doors made would really decrease the structural integrity of the entire car... the doors are heavy for a reason...

keep in mind, even though the lamborghini doors are fiberglass they're by no means light, especially when they fall on you

Hehe. Reminds me of that commercial where the ricers are looking at a Saturn 3-door coupe and ask "How'd you trick out the doors?".

Maybe someone will try to make a 3rd door for an F-body now.

Theres already a third door on f-bodies. The hatch. Didn't you ever see that ford focus commerical where everyone calws through the back of the car.

I have an idea, instead of doors like on a limbo, why not doors like on the Delorean?? An f-body with t-tops would make this conversion possible. Just need to mod the doors, and you'd loose the t-tops.

And yes I've gotten out of a delorean. Not hard at all.
