Grand Sport Fender Stripe
I am thinking about painting the corvette grand sport fender stripes on my TA. They would be the gunmetal color the ground effects are. Opinions? Anybody have close up pictures of them on a Trans Am?

I like mine. Did them five or six years ago before the new vette GS cars. Recently enlarged them. They used to be 2.5" wide and 3/4" apart and now they're 3" wide and a full inch apart.

Re: Grand Sport Fender Stripe
I ran them on my 91 camaro. I stronly reccomend plasti dip. I sprayed mine on in under an hour.
*hood is open
I left them on the car for about a month and I had alot of positive feed back. I peeled them off because I felt it didn't match the theme of the car yet. I will re apply them when I hopefully/ finally do an ls swap and run c6 Z06 wheels.
They peeled off perfectly. It didn't mess up the paint at all and left no residue. So I suggest plasti dip, and not vinyl.

I'd recommend vinyl -- painted-on will likely be a dealbreaker for a lot of people when it comes time to sell. Good quality vinyl should last years, even if it's left out in the sun.

Re: Grand Sport Fender Stripe
Also when I do small stuff like this, It really does not cost me anything because I use left over materials from doing other peoples cars. I just have to pay for paint, which I have about half a gallon of gray and I'm about to mix up half a gallon of the red just to have. I rarely use actual masking paper, most of the time I use the thrifty nickels that you can get for free So if I want to change it back to stock, it would be just as easy for me to repaint it as it is for ya'll to just pull the vinyl or plasti dip off

Re: Grand Sport Fender Stripe
I got some black construction paper and cut them out to look like GS stripes. Then I taped them onto the car with electrical tape. Then I played around with how wide and what spacing to go with.
I don't know what measurement I wen't with, but the spacing was between 1/4" and 1/2"
