a buddy of mine got a 96' T-bird off of ebay. The car was about 200 miles away so we drove there and took a look at it. We also asked the guy before he bid that if it is not what he had posted or Chad (my bud) had any major reason why he didn't want it if we could give the 50$ list fee to him and walk away. The guy had no problem, when we got there the car was nice, just what he had said. Then again, not all people are as honest as this guy. Best thing that I would do is ask for it in writting. This guy did that and it worked out well. If they screw you, you have it in writting.

Keep in mind that you're not buying from Ebay, you're buying from whoever is hosting the auction. This means that shipping will vary greatly depending on that person's location, as well as their shipping method. You also should make all efforts to ensure that you're doing business with somebody reputable and not some 16 year old idiot. I buy a ton of stuff from Ebay, but nothing as expensive as a car.

I bought a car from someone here. IT doesnt run and it doesnt have an interior. But it only cost 750. The good thing was all the suspension work was upgraded, as was the brakes and exhaust. when its done it will be perfect.

I just recently purchased 2 cars from Ebay. One was an excellent transaction with the owner in Long Island, the other was with a dealer outside St. Louis, giving me the typical dealer BS. I found that if you buy from a private party and ask alot of explicit questions, you'll know right away if you want their car by the way they respond to all the questions. The dealer I bought my 93 Pace Car from lied about it's condition, when I asked extreme detailed questions. Based on that, I could have walked away even though I was the highest bidder at the end of the auction. Only problem was, I didn't know he lied until I went to get the car. Just ask alot of questions, being very specific to the areas that are important to you.

It's better to go get the car yourself. As long as the car doesn't leave the location, you can back out if it isn't what they advertised. Once it's shipped, it's yours.

i bought my 91 rs cnvt off ebay in nov. and had some problems with not giving whole details of the condition of the car. when i arrived, it had a cracked windshield, no keys to any of the doors or trunk or even gas tank cap. there were some other things that wasn't the way i expected, but cant remember off the top of my head. oh, the whole interior floor was soaked. he did give me $100 back for the windshield and locks. but over all i think i got an ok deal out of it. i ended up paying $2k for the car and $300 for shipping from st louis to pittsburgh, pa.
