save your dough, unless the board itself is F.U.B.A.R.ed you can reinforce it with fiberglass and recover it. There was a post either in here or the Appearance board a while back about how to do this. Check it out and save some money for performance mods

Take a deep breath Shutch. Everything is going to be all right. First step is take down the whole headliner and board. You will be able to see and you will be able to start your headliner restoration
Click here courtesy of Jayman350 www.iroc-z.org/tech/interior/headliner and give it a shot.
But you asked so replacement headliner costs are as follows:
Pull it yourself from a "pull a part" junkyard $10 (probably just as bad)
Recover it yourself $45 (That is what it cost me)
non covered fiberglass board new $100 www.tacreationsusa.com/newparts.htm
non covered abs plastic headliner $150 www.thirdgenresource.com
covered fiberglass headliner new $189 www.classicindustries.com

Me too! I had my healiner off for the past 3 weeks, and I like the look of the bare metal. I have no interior left in my car except for some cappet and seats, and I like it that way... but eveybody else tells me it looks bad.

Back to the question, definetley recover the original (its not as hard as it seems, I got half way down with mien in about 1 1/2 hrs time), because I heard that the plastic or fiberglass ones have a visible speration in them from shiping and that doesn't look very Kosher. Just my opinion...

You really like the look of your car without a headliner? Have you ben working on your exhaust too long with the car running again???

I had my headliner out for a few months and I had to stare at the bare metal too, and it looks like as$. Not only do your center dome light and third brake light wires show, but it makes the car much louder because the metal roof is a "live" surface which reflects a lot of sound.

Just go to www.thirdgenresource.com and spend the money on a new headliner, you will be much hapier with the way it looks.

I just finished redoing my t-top headliner it turned out really good I just haven't had a chance to put it back in yet because I want to find out where the water is coming in that is leaking on my two new back seats!! Every time it rains I get these little drops of water or small puddles but they are not from the t-tops themselves. Seems like its coming through the metal somewhere near the seatbelt thing??? I dunno. But it does look like a$$ with bare metal and it sounds crappy too you can hear the metal bending and creeking (could have something to do with me not having the sub frame connectors installed yet)
