front fenders

I own a 1988 GTA Notchback. The body is in good shape but the front fenders just doesn't look right. If you get behind the car and look down the side towards the front the front fenders stick out about an 1/2 inch on each side. This is where the doors and fenders meet. Also the plastic wheel well cover on each fender doesn't fit right. The fenders are for a GTA. Does anyone have this problem. Are my fenders the fake ones instead of the real GM ones.

Yea, sounds like you might have the aftermarket fenders instead of the GM ones. The problem you described doesn't seem to serious, maybe just drilling new holes and bolting the fender on closer to the body mgiht solve the problem.

There may be more to the problem then just being aftermarket. Make sure the tires arent too big. I had the same problem on my 84 z-28. The tires were to big and jutted the fenders out 1/2 inch. Also make sure all the tie-rods are connected, its amazing what they do. Finally it could be they were simply mounted wrong and all you have to do is unbolt the nut under the car and re-adjust. Most likely its the last item, that is what I had to do on my new iroc to get the fenders right.
