Can I put a whole gauge cluster from an '86 GTA into my '83

I have an '83 TA, and I was thinking about installing a whole set of gauges from an '86 GTA. The speedometer reads up to 140 and my speedometer reads up to 85. Will this work? I know there is a tech article...but I am not sure if I can do this with a different mph reading. Thanks.

I have an 83 also, and from what I understand the 83 is a mechanical guage & the 86 is electric.. From what I've been getting back in order for this to work the sensors need to be replaced & a sending unit needs to be installed in the transmission for the speedo..

Let me know if you find out anything different..

Woops...typo...i meant '88. Well any way, I think I will just keep my stock gauges and put some white face overlays on them. Thanks.
