I was wondering how do u secure the t tops in the trunk. Do u need any special hooks are gadgets? do u just lay them back there or do they belong in something?

There should be a bag in the back that the T-Tops fit into. There were 2 types, zipper and velcro, depending on the year or model.

'86 uses the zipper type bag. And the t-top bag hooks into 4 steel connectors, two screwed into the floor just behind the rear seat, and two that extend through the plastic cover that hides your hatch pull down motor.

You should have a "leather" bag that they go into. Typically these get lost or whatever. I got mine (velcro style) off of ebay for I think $45 or so. Well worth it! They go into the back and the bag hooks up and pulls tight. It really keeps them from getting all beat up while flopping around in the well.

I have the original leather zipper bag for my 85 Trans Am.It has a vinyl flap between the two roofs.
The bag has metal hooks which connect to some metal brackets built into the car right behind the seats to stop it from flying in the event of a accident.

Can these be bought at a junk yard? If so how much do they usually sell for?

I'm sure somebody will argue with me about this but the T-top bags are NOT leather. Neither are the cargo cover and Trans Am dash pouch. I see people advertising these as "leather" all the time. If you have ever picked one up you should know that it's not leather. A leather bag would weigh a lot more. I've parted out quite a few thirdgen cars so I've got a lot of these laying around. When people e-mail me about them they always want to know if I have leather. I explain they didn't make leather and they'll show me somebody who is advertising a so-called "leather" one. Even Thirdgenparts advertises "leather", you would think they would know better but I guess not.

No argument here. I thought about pointing this out as well, but let it slide. They are all definately vinyl (but wouldn't real leather bags that match our interior color be real cool?).

No doubt that stuff is vinyl. I have replaced the ttop bag and cargo cover. And while we are on the topic, was the center console cover really leather? I ordered mine brand new from GM and it's a rubber leather looking piece.

well i got my bag out of a 86 camaro that had been rolled (shame to see that car go...it was very nice)...but they are not leather...mines got cuts in it from where the t-tops shattered(they were in the bag when it rolled)...leather doesnt cut like whatever that stuff is...plus its like the top black (or colored layer) is only about paper thin...

edit..oh yeah i forgot to ask...does anyone have problems with their tops fitting into the bags with the velcro flaps? mine never closes with the tops in it

I'm assuming you're talking about the shifter boot. No, those aren't real leather either.
