Riceboys are everywhere.

I saw my friend today. He drives a 1990 Honda Civic (oldest honda ive ever seen). He showed me his custom interior, which involved red spray-painted trim pieces such as the air vents and console. I wish I'da gotten pics. He was working on his lame lil system at the time too. Seems all Honda owners are either finding some rediculous mod, or a stereo worth more than their car.

You should try living in Hawaii! Never in my life have I wanted to own a car crushing monster truck in all my life. These guys are really morons. If I see another car with clear can't see your tailights lenses, or the obligitory coffee can muffler tip I am going to have a stroke. My neighbor has a seriously riced out Neon. So me and my other neighbor who has a totally custom 81 Vette (with 500hp dynoed at the rear wheel) are always trying to spin him up. He honestly believes that lil Jap motors with there hp per liter ratings are "da bomb." So, I showed him the highest hp/liter motor in the world, my model airplane engine. At .060 liters and 1.1hp, that should be far more powerful than any VTEC right?

Yeah, "da fart bomb!"

Its the same here in Long Island, NY. All these teenage punks think they are badazs with their rice cars. Thank god all my friends drive GM's. Well, one guy's got a mustang, but I wont hold it against him. So couple weeks ago I'm riding in this guy's Buick, and next to us we hear the infamous pppppthhhhhhhttttt of a *****. So at the light I roll down the window and say "Hey! What do ya got in there a Briggs & Stratton?" Dumb azs says "Yeah!" and floors it, farting away. Funny thing is, the moron wanted to race a firebird, but the firebird driver was too mature to waste his time with the idiot.
It's the same everywhere. A Honda Civic, ugly paint, stupid stickers and decals, a five foot spoiler, farting coffee can exhaust, clear taillights, car lowered to hell, and playing some crap music like eminem. And the driver, oh god. Baggy khakis around his knees, dumb colored shirt to go along with the car's paint, and he doesnt even know if his hat should be forward or backward, so he wears it sideways. Makes me wanna puke.

Worse are the clubs and I have two in my area. There is a new Saturn going around <which is a good car factory> but he has that huge muffler tip which makes the cars crappy engine that much more noticable. Its loud but it goes ping-ping not vroom vroom. Can you say stupid. I think it should be a reward if you run one off the road.

I'm in Maine. We're spared much of that stuff - so far. It'll get up here eventually.

We're seeing a real split in the car hobby - those who enjoy cars for the cars themselves, vs. those who enjoy cars as a medium into which to install electronics.

You can see this at car shows already. I show my 67 Firebird convertible at 1-2 shows a year. It's great to park among the muscle- and other cars from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Most shows segregate the later stuff into a separate area because those cars tend to have the boomy boomy stereos that are always played full blast. Many of the more "traditional" car guys find that really annoying to hear that bass over and over and over and over...

Intellectually I can admire the amount of time and money that goes into making your civic into a boom box. The technology is impressive. I have no interest whatsoever in either owning or looking at it, but I can appreciate that others do.

The problem as I see it, however, isn't about what's going on now. It's about what's going to happen 20 years from now. There will be far fewer people interested in the original 60s style muscle cars, and fewer people interested in more modern muscle cars like our 3d gens. There will be many more people interested in Neons, Civics and the like with all the electronics stuffed inside. Probably, the most "correct" cars at these shows will be the ones that have 2001-vintage electronics in their 2001 Honda, so that show-goers can say stuff like "WOW! MY NEON USED TO HAVE THAT EXACT SAME SUBWOOFER!" Or whatever.

I think when that happens I won't be going to shows anymore. I'll be driving a muscle car, paying $5.00 per gallon of gas to listen to the sweet burble of a high-cubic-inch V8.

That's progress.

If you ask me, I think the thirdgens are the last of the vintage muscle cars. Nothing against 4thgens, but even the earlier ones have more of a "modern" appearence than a "vintage" one. Thirdgens have more of a muscle car appearence, inside and out, minus the air bag after 91. These cars have the attitude "I dont need anything fancy just gimme POWER like the early muscle cars had. Great looks, great performance at a great price.

The rice around here is TOO MUCH!!! I can't take it. For example my biggest beef is street races. Street races are traditionally for fast muscle cars. Now they are full of RICED out 4 bangers that are hopeing to break 17 flat ET. The all look STUPID with the huge spoilers, stickers, exhaust tip. Pull up to the street races and all I hear is angry misquito exhausts all being drivin by vanilla ice + eminem look alikes. Why is it that all these wiggers drive these stupid cars? The funny thing is the real rap artists such as Ice Cube, Snoop, etc would never be caught dead in one of those things. Christ even eminem has a line in one of his songs "I'll slam into your Honda Accord with a four door Ford!" I don't understand these people at all. Oh well it makes my 12 second IROC look SOOOOOOOOO much faster considering everyone has the impression that the odd 14 second civic is one of the fastest cars on the road.. Until it meets the Bad Assed In Black IROC-Z

Now fellas,
Lets not forget the worse trend of all. American Rice, and worse than that Muscle Rice. Yep, I have seen riced Camaros, Firebirds, and Mustangs. This will start a war but, those clear corner and tail lenses, when I see them on one of my beloved F-bodies or even on a Mudstain, I want to wreck them in the nearest wall and mercifully put that poor car out of it's misery. The Camaros with the Supra style wings, gotta go. What are doing with that spoiler anyways, hanging laundry or is it just a convenient push bar for you and your friends when the thing breaks down? Save the F-body from this incipent disease, educate the young punks with Muscle Rice Disease!

Yep, they are everywhere. I've seen some yellow Nissan around here with one wiper, Neuspeed windshield logo, wign that is as tall as the car, and not one but TWO rice tips, fart pipes, whatever you wanna call them. The thing is so ugly. Thats not the only one around here, but the only one ive ever seen with two annoying tips.

Right on hawaii 5.0!

I used to live in Hilo, Hawaii, and Jesus christ there were alot of ricers. Tons of stupid car clubs too. yuck. It was like every other car was a honda lowered to within 1/4" of the ground. Most of the "ricers" were local boys, either fillipino or hawaiian, but several white, and asians guys owned them too. (just to make sure nobody here is commenting on '*****' meaning 'asian', thats racist bull§hit)

Just about everyone on the big island liked hondas, and only hondas.

Rock on Hawaii 5.0, keep it real in a place I know its hard to keep it real in!

Here in Vancouver we have a large Asian population so you see a lot of ugly made up ricers.
Funniest or maybe the dumbest thing I saw was a old faded, and balding tires Ford Explorer with a huge fart can on it,no other mods just the Fart can.

I get a kick out of the rice with the huge spoilers on them.... reminds me of the push toys parents buy to teach babies how to walk

I offended a co-worker recently; I asked if the exhaust tip on his Honda was made by Folgers or Maxwell House

I like the fact people mod their cars and support the hobby, but the rice cars get a little weird.. I have seen so many stock civics wit combat wings as they call them and huge tail pipes thinking it is a speed mod. On the flip side I have seen a few ricers really done up nicely and tastefull.

Even though they go about it completely wrong, I have to respect the amount of care put into a *****'s car. Anybody that spends $600 on a muffler must really consider their cars important. Either that, or they're just stupid.

There was a time when the most stolen cars were the Chevy's, Fords, Pontiacs, Buicks and Oldsmobiles. Today the majority of the top stolen cars are Camry's, Acura's, and Honda's. This is sad!!! The link below is from the insurance industry. I do need to let people know that the Oldsmobile Cutlass they refer to is not the FWD version, but the RWD/V8 from 83-88. It used to be nice having the cars most wanted by car thieves. I barely even saw a Camaro let alone a Firebird on this list. What's the world coming to?

I dunno bout you, but i'd take the sound of a rumblin v8 over the weed eating sound of a riced 4banger any day. The guy I work with is starting to pimp out his 94 Geo Metro. It is so funny. I give him so much crap about how gay it looks.

I dunno, do the japanese imports have a VATS system like the F-bodies have had for what 11-12 years now? The new trend here in Hawaii is the aluminum wing that looks like the guy is actually an unemployed snow plow operator. When my wife first saw one, she said,"Told you we should have kept our manure shovel, could have used it as a spoiler..."

Actually, I have seen a white Camaro vert ridin around in a while ago. Remember in like February or March I think when we had that killer weather? It was around then, they were turning left off of 111th street into a gas station on Southwest Highway in Palos Hills- I think its a Speedway. Ever use that one? The top was down and it made me want a vert.

You guys crack me up...

There's too much rice down here in FL, too...some guy keeps driving around with this red bug looking rice car and has japanese writing ALL OVER IT. Sideways, diagonally, different sizes, everything. I asked what it meant and he couldn't tell me. The had a folgers exhaust tip. That is one gay-*** flaming mod. He kept trying to convice me he was faster than a new Corvette he just raced. He probably wasn't racing, or didn't know how to drive. Did it have the motor in it, who was pushing? The only thing english on his car was VTEC. Big deal. He said it was turboed and pointed at the cat. (umm... dude, I do this FOR A LIVING)A fellow ***** tried to convince me his turbo Eclipse was the $hit, and it was exactly that, $hit. The thing had to have run 18's.

I wish they'd quit racing my time. If they'd save their money, they could be a thirdgen, but then again, they'd probably rice-afy it, so nevermind. I'm watching my fellow youth shoot themselves in the foot

Who made your exhaust tip? Folger's or Maxwell house? That was good. Haven't laughed like that in a long time! LOL!!! Damn japanese writing, coffee can tips, ugly chrome and gold wheels, dropped, nasty boom-boxes on wheels. Some guy brought this Suburban in for a tire rotation, and his tires were directional, so they needed to be broke down. Let's see, the tire size was, oh yeah, P 295-30 R21. Ugliest chrome wheels I ever saw. EMT Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. Cost over $450 apiece, custom order. What a moron. On a Suburban? What the hell would you put those on, in reason? A road-race monster truck? Wheels were over $600 apiece. He was afraid we would scratch them so he had to help, and ended up scratching them himself. MORON!

...sometimes I just wonder why people who claim to be OK upstairs act so fruity...

Car: too many ...
people do things for their ride for a certain look that they want. the ones that we can tease are the ones that make the car or truck or whatever look fast but they really aren't. like the guy with a 1990 civic with stock motor and he puts on exhaust and intake and thinks its fast ... yeah those are riceboys. i know lots of people that mod their cars to loodifferent but know their car isnt fast ... those people i give respect to because they like to modify cars just like me. i'll tell you what, if I had the choice between a 3rd gen camaro kinda raced up, and a suv with 20" chromes, i would take the suv!! no its not about the speed, its about the look. i think suv's that are dropped with huge chrom rims look nice ... and so do alot of women hehe!! if the guy has 20's on his suv and he thinks hes fast then hes an idiot, but im sure thats not the case. you just gotta remember, maybe other people have a different objective when they mod their cars. most of us here on the board like to make our cars fast ... we're the kinda people that will mod up the engine before getting a paintjob. other people would get the paintjob and bodykit and leave the engine stock cuz they just want the look. and i dont think they make 21 inch chromes ... only 20, 22, and now 23 inches.

Ive seen a Neon with a K&N filter sticking through a homemade hole in the hood. It had the nice Viper imitation racing stripes (that apparently add 40 horsepower!). I hate that thing.

Theres this early 90s rustang too. Has a set of fatty 10 inch tires. This thing is lowered 1½ inches, and the taillight blackouts are white to match the color of the car. He has window tint with "STANG" on the side windows, and "MUSTANG" on the front and rear windows. Funny, he's missing the Ford logo.

I like Ford. I'm a Ford man. But I also like rival stuff like Camaro, Corvette, Impala, Nova, etc. Ford makes great trucks. Mustangs, although pretty nice looking, are TOO COMMON. Its the most common car in my school's parking lot. Of 700 cars, There are probably at least 20-25 of them. And the majority of those, their parents bought for them! I HATE that crap. My girlfriend might get a Mustang (she's almost 16), so I've been looking for a nice V6 for her.

Here's a prime example of what I have to deal with in town. Lots of little chrome bits under the hood with symbols on them probably saying "Adds 5 HP" At least he hasn't done the single wiper mod yet lol.
