sandblasting tips?

Well, its time to sell my 74 Z28, but im gonna sandblast around the windows(in spots) and on a few spots around the bottom of the doors by the wheel wells. None of the rust is very bad, but i do need to fix it before selling. I have a sandblaster, but havent used it yet. Does anyone have any tips as to what to do or make sure and not do? I've seen a hood that was sandblasted too roughly, and it looked like it had terrible hail damage on it, so i know to be careful of that. My blaster isnt that big anyways... soooo, any tips or suggestions? all im gonna do is blast around the areas, the largest being about 6-10 square inches, prime, and paint over(got paint matched)

Don't spend too much time in one place because blasting causes heat and actually stretches the metal if you hold it in one spot. Start out with lower PSI and bild your way up till you think it is cutting fine. Depends on what grade of blast material you are using? I use G4 glass and it is nice and fine. It cuts well but is gentle.

I actually have a pretty fine sand in the tank right now, should i use glass beads or another material? I think i have the pressures written down at home to use.. but what would you recommend to start at? any max pressure? I'm not going to get over zealous and try to blast it all off at once.. i just dont wanna use too much and damage the metal

Don't worry about it. It is really easy to use. I change the pressure according to what i am blasting. I am just used to it now. We have a saw manufacturing business and we use the blaster to clean up the carbide tips after brazing. If you blast at it too much it actually stretches the metal and trows off the tension in the saw. Just go at it and you shouldn't have any prob. Sand is way cheaper than glass when you cant recycle. Have fun.
