fender flare/wide body kit idea

i think our third gen camaros, or trans am's would look great with fender flares similar to these fabricated on them. anyone wanna give their view about it? i need some input.

I think your're right. Didn't the old IROC series run third gen camaros? They would have had some good looking flares.

Re: fender flare/wide body kit idea

I am thinking about doing something like this for my 87 because my jongbloed wheels will not tuck under. Already got a spare set of front quarters. I may try and do them in fiberglass.I have created my own flares and mold for a C3 corvette before...they came out good. I also have a mold for C3 corvette L88 flares, I may try and pull a piece off it and see if it can be made to fit...those are WIDE flares

That's an interesting look. Did you fabricate the flares yourself or is that a commercially available kit?

That was a kit available in the 80s, from Contempo Vans. A take-off kit just sold recently. There's actually a whole car on eBay now, a 1986 V6 Sport Coupe for sale

While it looks good, I don't think they'll get the over $7K they are looking for it?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevr...item2579e2fd83

Also it states that it has GM "special effects". I guess that you can't believe everything you read on ebay.

I doubt they'll get that for a V6. And it did sell at the dealer that way, so it came direct from a dealer!

I understand that it came from the dealer that way but I've also seen Chattanooga Choo-Choo conversions on a new car dealer's floor and I wouldn't call them GM "Special Effects". I guess I would differentiate between factory installed and dealer installed options. and you're right about the V-6.

I totally agree with you. I was just being scarcastic with their GM "Special Effects" comment...

Re: fender flare/wide body kit idea

I would love to see a set of fender flares for thirdgens. I tried fitting the ones from my e30 against the trans am and they were no where close to covering the entire fenderlip.
