Power Hatch Motor is Confused!
When I push the button on my dash to open the hatch the hatch raises up and then pulls back down. I've tried sanding the contacts just enough to make sure their clean and it works fine for a couple of days and then starts all over again. What's the cure? Anyone else have this problem?

Are the struts that hold the hatch up in good shape? If those are shot or weak what you described will happen.

Check the hatch motor and make sure that the bolts are tight. It could be that the motor has slid down a bit, causing it not to release the hatch completely and it thinks that it has been closed.

Mine does the same thing all the time. The release mechinism is broken, therefore the hatch never leaves the motor structure. As soon as it hits the top, it acts as if it's just been closed again, pulling it down. Check to make sure yours is all in working order so that it will release.

The pulldown motor is a simple up-down motor activated by a switch. If the hatch doesnt leave the latch, or the latch comes up far enough for the latch on the hatch to contact the switch, it will activate the switch and start the motor going down.
The problem is your struts arent strong enough to raise the hatch by themselves. That means that if you dont hussle around to get the hatch up in 2 or 3 seconds, it will do that cycle.
A popular way of dealing w/ that problem is to flip the switch to make it go down then when at the bottom just pull the connector. The only consequence is having to close the hatch a bit more firmly. But then you can take your time in getting around to the hatch.
Take it for what its worth.
