T-Tops

I recently bought a Pontiac Fire Bird (87) and the previous owner said that my T-Tops leaked, well i asked him if he tried to fix it and he said they tried putting a new seal on it but it leaked anyhow. After consideration he decided to completely seal the T-Tops off (they cant come out unless the seal is broken). So my question is, should i break the seal and see if i can get a new seal that wont leak(not Garanteed to work)? If i do, and they dont work, that would be a wast of money, but tehn again i would like ot have my T-Tops open at times.

Personaly i would break the seal and take the tops out. the guy i got my car from said the tops leaked too, but it must take being dropped in a pond for it to happen. cause its downpoured here when i was driving and nothing leaked, and ive taken it though car washes with no probs. maybe he just didnt put the weathersealing in right ive seen alot of people mess that up in some way or anther.

ps. after you drive around with the tops out in the sun you will think its worth it!

the guy who owned it before bird-87 had it professionally done and it still leaked...so they sealed it for free. nobody offers a warrenty for doing t-tops.

besides he said that it only leaks when it SITS in the rain...if you are driving around the wind just pushes the water right over the seal..it gets wet just not really enough to get though the bad seal....but then again you did say you took it through the car wash..hmmm...i dont know...i hope he finds some how to get it fixed...i sure wish i had t-tops!!

There should be an adjustment for the sitting height of the t-tops. Once the tops oare off, the mountings in the body of the car can be adjusted up and down to make the tops fit tighter.
