weatherstripping

i think this has been asked before but i don't remember the answer so i'll ask again. i'm replacing the rubber around my doors, does the hard plastic piece on the top inside come off seperately or is it one piece with the inside door panel. it looks like the weatherstrip fits under the top piece. thanks for any help

the inside door panels,i'm replacing the weatherstripping around the doors and the ends are under the hard plastic piece at the top of the panel. i was wondering if that piece comes off seperately or comes off with the whole door panel.

I checked the parts catalog and it looks like it is held in by retention clips. The clips may just pry up, but you'll want to be really careful with it. I heard that GM has some kind of tool used for removal, but if you just pry carefully it should pop up.

Good luck,
Mike

if you're talkin about the black plastic piece that runs down the length of the door on the top, then yes, it's connected to the door pannel, the pannel is held in with plastic retianers around its edge. Just pry at them with a screwdriver and they'll pop out. For the top, once you get the pannel loose, rotate it up and push out on the top piece, this should free the clips, then just lift the whole thing off. Look in the tech articles for more detailed instructions
