Door Stuck Shut, HELP!
Here's what's going on:
My driver's door on my '86 (see Sig) has been bending at the hinges for about a year now. Since I'm planning to sell the car I had a body shop just BEND it back up again. This stopped the window from leaking and made the power window run 100% better.
At the same time they fixed the bent door, they BROKE something for the latch. My door is now stuck shut. It unlocks what FEELS like all the way, but the handle seems to be disconnected from the physical LATCH. The same deal from the inside also. I tried pulling from the outside and throwing my weight against it from the inside to no avail.
I just need to get the dang door working again. the rest of the car is DEF not a POS, not even close... but I can't pour the $$ into the car to have this fixed 100% right.
How can I temporarily get this door open and working??????
PS: There ARE reasons why I'm not complaining to the body shop, it's a LONG story.

This may be a long shot, but a locksmith may be able to help. They may be willing to try to open it, tell you how to do it yourself, or sell you a tool to slide between your window and door.

You could start by somehow removing the interior panel. At least then maybe you can get some idea of what's wrong.

Pull off the armrest so you can pull off the unlatch handle cover. (torx screws, carefull, most are 'dummys', and phillips screw under one cover that unsnaps)
push and pull lock linkage, make sure is unlocked, then pull on latch linkage, while exerting force at door jamb. Maybe using lever between door and jamb to force door foreward will help.
once open, take out door latch, swing door closed to test fit, adjust doors at hinges as necessary, (trial and error, since you must hold door up with jack, loosed and tighten up bolts, then try)
You'll get it!
