Floor patching ??? Is it possible

Ok so i took the gta off the road for the new fall/winter project im doing im redoing all the interior black an gonna get the car repainted in gun metal grey when i took out the interior i saw 2 nice spots of rust build up starting to rot through the drivers side an passenger front sides at the foot board of the car. every other spots on the car are rock solid surprisingly. So instead of buying new floors im wondering if i could just replace the those two front pieces ??? Also one more question what is a good rust prevention paint i could use to do the top of the floors since the underside of the car has already been undercoated. Also for all the interior pieces what paint could i use for that do they make paint for plastic if so what kind/brand an where can i get it at ???

Re: Floor patching ??? Is it possible

There's tons of threads here about interior refurb. I gave my input to this thread which I think is the most thorough one: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/inte...ic-carpet.html

Regarding a floor patch, a relative who's been in the business 40+ years performed an old trick; after the surrounding area was cleaned and trimmed, netting was applied and then his recipe of fiberglass and epoxy was mixed and applied onto the net. Before completely drying, it was smoothed and shaped inside and outside the car to match the original contours. Once dried, it was actually harder than the rest of the floor. Por 15 or Rustoleum's premium line both make paints perfect for the floor. I gave my experience here, in post 5: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/inte...passenger.html

Read the first link I gave you. At the very least, use water and dish detergent to clean the plastics. Even better, is this stuff concentrated: http://www.dap.com/product_details.a...90&SubcatID=17

Afterward, adhesion prompter and finally, the paint. I used SEM, others have used Duplicolor.

Re: Floor patching ??? Is it possible

Remove the floor parts from the "frame" parts by cutting the factory spot welds one by one with spot weld cutter. Then cut the floor parts out with a torch or sheet metal sniper of your choice.
Get a rust free section of flooring and re install by welding around the edges and again drilling out the spot welds and plug welding them back to the "frame" parts you cut the original floor parts from.
Don't try fiberglass
Don't try flat tin
Wouldn't be a bad idea to ad frame connectors though...
