Hood Insulation for 1983 z28 with CFI
I recently purchased a 1983 z28 with crossfire injection. The car has working air intake flaps. The previous owner took out the hood insulation because it was falling apart. I want to replace this hood insulation because I don't want to do damage to the paint from the heat. I purchased a new insulation pad and took it to an auto shop to have it put on. They said they could not put it on because they could not get off the cow induction(ram air intake) under the hood. Has anybody replaced one of these for this year vehicle with the crossfire injection and if so did you take off the cow induction? If anyone has any ideas how to install this hood insulation pad that would be great.

Here is a pic I found on TGO of how the insulation is supposed to fit. It looks like it covers the cowl induction unit. Did you buy the insulation specifically for a car with cowl induction?

Pull all the plastic clips and one ground strap on the passenger side of the hood and the insulation just falls out. The air flap assembly does not have to be removed.
Just removed mine about a month ago.
