Hatch release question
I was wondering if having air shocks that need to be replaced could cause the hatch not to open using the button on the console. I hear and see the motor come up, but then it goes back down. It opens just fine with the key, and the latch works properly to close it back down. It makes a "click" when using the button inside, but will not release and I have WD40 running down the back bumper after spraying it and cleaning the mechanism. Any thoughts on what it could be?

Yes, I meant the struts, supports, shocks whatever one's chosen name for them. I will try replacing them as they are not doing a good job of supporting the hatch. Thanks for the help Mr Marauder!

Re: Hatch release question
I got mine off Ebay for like 50 bucks. I also got the front ones to hold up the hood, but even brand new ones didn't support the hood...lol
Oh well....

Re: Hatch release question
I know for certain I need the hatch supports, the hood supports are doing their job. My only complaint about the hood is the wobble/wiggle when opening and closing it. The hinges seem to allow the hood to wander from side to side.

Yep I noticed that too. I am very careful closing it for that same reason. But you gotta admit, compared to most cars, that's a big freaking hood...
