145mph speedo

how hard is it to change the cluster out of a 85 Trans am and switch it with one from a newer one. Car has factory 85 mph speedo and i want a 145mph. How many wires will i have to change?

You shouldn't have to replace any wires. The back of the cluster simply plugs in. The only problem you may run into the the Speedometer. I believe yours is cable driven.
As long as you get one that has a cable driven speedometer, you won't have to change a thing.
You may want to reuse your old cover plate because the lights (SES, Choke, etc) have changed places over the years.

I swapped in a cluster from an 88 IROC into my 84 Z28 and it just popped in with no problems at all.

Just realized you have a TA. I believe their clusters swap out the same way.
The other thing is if you have idiot lights VS gages. If you have the idiot lights, you will have to change out the senders since the new cluster will most likely have gages (coolant temp, etc)
