US Body Source any good?

I'm going to see a 89 RS tommorow and am going to buy it as long as there is no frame damadge. It needs a hood, fender and front spoiler and probably metal inner bumper. I plan on getting fender, inner bumper and front spoiler from a junyard but I want a cowl hood. I'll have $1000 after the purchase and the inner bumper, fender and front spoiler should only set me back $250. I noticed US Body Source has a 2 1/4" cowl hood that only cost $295 for the latch one. Would you suggest I get the hood from them or some where else and get an expensive one? Is ASCD a good company? And does anyone have any pics of the ascd cowl hood on their car?

Has anyone ever seen the blue Camaro on the cover of the "Camaro Performance Handbook" by David Shelby? Do you know how makes the cowl hood on that?

Chris

US-Body has bad quality hoods, that is all I have ever heard.... they used to be better from what someone said but they aren't anymore.
ASCD is great, I have heard some bad stuff... but my hood was perfect and there are lots of happy people with ASCD hoods.
As for pictures and stuff, no and for what hood that is... no clue.
Hope that helps a little,
RS

I guess the extra $150 is worth it then. Hopefully I'll get the 89 RS tommorow.

I had no problems with my US Body Ram Air II hood. None. You look hard enough and you'll find someone who's had problems with everything. Seems to be luck of the draw; I've heard of guys that love their Harwoods and guys that hate their Harwoods - the same goes for ASCD.

My IROC had the US Body 2 1/4 cowl hood and I did not like it at all. it was supposed to be a bolt on item and was not. The latch had to be shimmed about an inch. The hood never lined up properly. The best I could do was to get it almost square, but the hood gaps were not even. The hood itself was not square. Several attempts and hours of trying, on not one, but two different cars. It fit the same on both cars, badly.
As a side note, it took me all of 5 minutes to mount and align a stock hood that I replced the cowl hood with, so I know it was not me.

Well that Camaro was a peice of ****, so I don't have to worry were I get a hood from right now. It needed way too much work: New fenders, drivers side rear quarter panel, radiator support, nose, honeycomb inner bumper, headlight assembly, hood, tailights, driver door and probably a new spindle. I'm calling some more places later today. So hopefully I'll have a Camaro in a few days.
