Time For Another 4th Gen Seat Question

I'm gonna be installing 94 Firebird seats tomorrow. I would'nt ask the question but my cars over an hour away in storage.

Do I have to take apart the seatbelt to fit it through the guide on the side of the seat? What's the best way to do it?

I just wanna make sure I bring the right tools with me.

Thanks
Frank

The guide should just unbolt from the side of the seat and you shouldn't have to take apart the seat belts. Just take some torques cause that what is on the rear bench seat holding on the guide. I think the front is a screw driver.

Oh my bad I think that you mean using the new guides from the 94 seats. Now I'm not sure on that one. I just reused the guides on my old seats when I did the swap. I once took a seat belt from a car and it looked impossiable to take apart. You should try to use your old belts over or get new ones to match if thats the problem. I m not saying that it can't be done but it looks like a pain. I hope that this helps in anyway.

Thanks for the info. Since the guides off the old seats will bolt up I'll use those.

Thanks

Something you might run into, thirdgen seatbelt guides on 4th gen seats tend to raise the level of the belt. If you're short like me it'll go right across your neck and is a major pita during the summer.

Drew you might get decapitated in a collision! I am installing 4th gen seats soon also. They gave me the seat belts also. Will the 4th gen belts bolt right up as well? I assume the rear will not since they are shoulder belts and my car only has lap belts in the rear.

I installed the seats this afternoon. I decided to use the seatbelt guides that came with the new seats. All I did was cut the guide near the mounting screws and slide the belt through the cut. The seats look awsome.

I just put a set in my IROC 2 weeks ago, and I like them a lot better than the old leather seats I had. Did you have power seats in your car?

And where are you in CT? You should check out the CTFBA, check my sig for the website.

My car did'nt have power seats in it. The new seats are'nt power either. So the install was real easy.

I live in Southington. That's cool that there's an F-Body club in CT. I'm gonna have to join.

My car originally had power seats, but the new ones were manual. The tracks bolt right up though so I was able to use keep the power option. Only problem was the trim panel that holds the switch isn't the same so I need to make a custom one.. but that's no big deal.

As for CTFBA, I just joined up a few weeks ago. It seems like a cool bunch of people and there are some events already planned for the spring/summer. When I joined, 4th gens had the majority, but it's about even now with thirdgens.
You should both check it out for sure. I can't wait to hit some local events.
