Water leak

I'm finding my front driver side floor to be soaked with water and it's turning my carpet into mildew stained crap??? Where are common areas the water could be getting in from. I checked the firewall, windsheild, window floor. I can't find it. Maybee I'm overlooking the problem area but any advise would be appreciated.

hmmm, only thing i can think of is leaky weatherstripping or a hole in the floorpan, but I doubt that one. maybe get someone to hose it down while you sit in it and check for leaks. That's about the only was I can think of findin the problem.

Do you have t-tops? They are notorious for leaking (trust me, i know) Check the weather stipping around the window. The door might need adjusting (move the pin inwards) I also stuffed the weather stipping with foam to seal it to the window better (it helped a lot) If you do have t's adjust the locking pin holders.

I hope that helps

I have the same exact problem on my passenger side. Does it still get soaked even if the car sits overnight in the rain and doesn't move? I have t-tops and I'm told that's my problem although I can't see how with no visible trace of water anywhere. I just posted on the board for this problem. If I find out anything different I'll let you know.

I don't know for sure with a 3rd gen, but it's common on 1st gen cars to leak water in from th cowl area. There are drain holes in the cowl that get clogged with leaves or debris and water then builds up and drains into the car. Do 3rd gens have the same possible problem? It might be a place to start looking.

If the car sits during the rain and there is no visible sign that water came in around the ttop, I would say that it isn't the ttops but could possibly be the above mentioned problem.

Car: 1989 Firebird Formula
Engine: Internal Combustion
Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
It could be leaking in through the fresh-air vent above the drivers' feet....the pivot for the windshield wiper is directly above the vent, and if the 'tar' around the pivot is missing or cracked, water will drip in through the vent.
