Need to find Large Rivets for door panel

I am replacing the doors and I have to swap over the window motor and door lock solenoid. Those were originally rivetted onto the door. The rivets I found are too small. I can't seem to find a large enough rivet at any of the local hardware stores or auto parts stores. Any links that I can purchase online for these large size rivets?

Did you try NAPA? I'd go down to a local body shop and see if they have a few.

I never bothered with rivets. I always replaced them with nuts and bolts with lock washers. The rivets always loosen up anyways. And if you ever have a problem later it is much easier to take bolts out than rivets.

I would do that if I can access behind the door as easily. Blind rivets would probably be easiest.

I believe you are looking for 1/4" peel rivets. They used to be available from GM, but I'm not sure if that's the case anymore.
IIRC,the peel rivets are supposed to split apart and wrap around providing more support from behind.

Example:

Don't forget you need to borrow or buy the GIANT rivet gun to install them also !

I was lucky and my bud who works in a body shop brought me some giant rivets and
the giant gun to install them........................
Your little "housey" guy won't work!

Re: Need to find Large Rivets for door panel

I know this thread is a few months old, but when I put power windows in my doors, I had to buy the rivets from the dealership and I rented a big rivet gun from the local tool rental center. The rivets were like $3 a piece.

Re: Need to find Large Rivets for door panel

Just be sure to buy the rivet with the correct grip. I found out the hard way that some of the regulator rivets have a longer grip, and they won't work when you are using them on thinner materials such as sheet metal.
