buffing paint? help!

I went to go get an estimate on a paintjob and the guy said it wasn't that bad. he offered to buff it for $150. so he called some guy over to do a bit of the fender. it looked GREAT! he used a big disk grinder type polisher. where do I find the attachments to go on one of those? my dad has a big disk grinder for sure. the buffing wheel looked big. like 12" or 14" what kind of compound? the bottle said 3M on it.
Thanks

$150 sounds abit steep. I used to do entire outside details for $140. Unless he is goin' to wash, clay, buff, polish, wax, and glaze, then I'd go somewhere else. The reason I say go somewhere instead of doing it yourself, is 'cause it takes practice. It's very easy to mess up and burn the paint. DON'T USE YOUR DAD's GRINDER!!! It's too fast.
